I just watched a video about how farms and farm land had become a financial tool to avoid taxes that is being abused which is raising the costs and hurting farmers. And that this tax would remove it as a tax loophole and lower the value of farmland which will help farmers. Do your own research. goverments own numbers are a good start. google "Balance sheet analysis and farming performance, England 2023" farms only make between 0.2% and 1% profit of there asset value. so an exceptional £5mil farm might make £50k profit per year. lightly between a couple. the IHT tax on that farm will be all of that proffit for 10 years. Most farms only make half that.

Get rid of inheritance tax for everyone. There's no justification to tax multiple times.

Clarkson is peeved because he used it as a tax fiddle. It will affect less than 400 farms and they have 10 years to pay it. Why should they be exempt from inheritance tax? Where were these farmers when it was clear that Brexit had shafted them?

Mr clarkson admitted he brought his farm to avoid inheritance tax. Hardly a great spokesman
