I know why this can't be, but I truly wish that the conversations that ex-MPs have could be how they normally interact as an acting MP. I understand party line and the need for stories not to develop, but the civilised and reasonable conversation these women had is better than anything had by standing MPs, especially those in government

Excellent discussion. Proud to be called Rigby. Well done! I have a crush on Penny.

Wonder how Penny felt when Andrew Pierce viciously described her as Penny Doolittle in the Mail. Still baffled that Harriet never challenged Brown for the leadership post Blair as political leadership coronations are bad for business. Even some of her own Whitehall colleagues were disappointed. The way the Starmer administration is currently going your Tory trio may soon start their own Labour MPs not-seeking-reelection check list.

I hold out hope that Penny will get back into the commons and become leader.

She's better off out of it until the Conservatives sort their act out. There's no point leading a Conservative Party if they are full of wets and Lib Dems. Penny is better off forming her own party with the likes of Jacob Rees-Mogg, Miriam Cates, Liz Truss etc etc

@dannyquinn9128 Eh? I'm just saying I like Penny as well. But she's best off out of politics until her Party cleans up its act. All of politics is a mess in this country. Penny is best off becoming a pundit or writing a book right now.

But the party needs people who have the potential to clean it up. Badenoch isn’t electable as PM. She won’t win over those defecting to reform or those who switched to Labour or Lib Dem’s. Penny is their best shot at winning those who went to Labour or Lib Dem’s. Then she can get a good deputy to be equally visible to help pitch more right leaning politics to win back those who voted for reform. So that could be Mourdant as leader and Jenrick as deputy. Similarly Tugenhat is moderate enough to have the same effect with Jenrick again as deputy. Alternatively they start looking at their grassroots members and work on getting them into Westminster and into the shadow cabinet to bring in new fresh faces who aren’t linked to the mess that went on under Johnson or Truss.

Im a former Tory voter who would absolutely not vote for them ever again unless penny was their leader…. Her losing her seat was my only personal loss from the general election😢
