Prince Harry was 'obsessed' over his royal 'shelf life'

Prince Harry was "obsessed" about not losing his importance within the Royal Family, author and Royal correspondent Valentine Low says.
"He had this thing about his shelf life - he knew that as he grew older, he'd get less important," Mr Low told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.
"Prince George would grow up and by the time George would be 18, Harry thought he'd be over - and he was obsessed with trying to have instant results.
"Which is why, when he invented Invictus Games, he did that in a real hurry."

Camellia Wilkes. He can’t accept that his mother made bad choices and died as a result. He needs to blame somebody to make himself feel better. He is carrying a lot of guilt for not taking his mother’s phone call the day before her death because he was “too busy” playing a game so he NEEDS someone else to blame, and the media seem to be the easiest target. I am sure deep down he blames his father for not loving her enough to make her happy, but he knows that that argument doesn’t wash. I love how you all believe everything the tabloid media tells you. If you use critical thinking about things in the situation and a little bit of common sense you probably say that it takes many ingredients to bake a cake. Or in other words. They All have made their mistakes and none of the principles are perfect. They all have spin doctors and try to present themselves in the best possible light. Looking at everything that has happened in the last five years I think Harry has a point. He probably was a little bit pushy with his defense of his wife and child, but look at it this way. If your family was being a little cool with your wife because she was different than you family for the same reasons, then you might be a bit aggressive over time. They met and fell in love quickly. That’s true . They were fully aware adults. They both had had relationship issues in their lives and had learnt from them. They were both at a point where they were open to love. The problem was they were both public figures. He was a Prince and she was an Actress and Humanitarian. They should have been supported by his family in their efforts to raise their children and be able to have a few years of life together in relative peace. They weren’t treated like that though. He was stripped of everything he had done in his career and life. Treated like a criminal like his uncle. That isn’t fair at all. In-laws can be very unfair. In this case the Unconscious bias, either knowingly or unknowingly it was happening within the household . Meghan had walked into a hornets nest from the media in the UK. They are very difficult and different from other countries. It’s a fact. So you have a woman and a man. That fell in love and then had to get engaged and marry within eighteen months of meeting. Then she became pregnant. Instead of having time to adjust, she was just trying to deal with a whole new culture and country. She had very little experience or insight into what it was like with all the protocols and rules , plus she was having a baby and the press or media if you prefer, was having a heyday. They were horrible to and about her. The media that is. I don’t think the in-laws were warm and fuzzy. Maybe the Queen was the warmest. She certainly adored her Granny in-law. I suppose it was a different experience to have to curtsy to your in-laws when you came in a room. Especially for an American. They are ingrained with the belief that Americans don’t bow to anyone. All people are equal. They have a totally different view of the world. So I can totally understand why it would be difficult to get along for her. Firstly the fact that certain members of the family were not excepting of her background was probably hard. It certainly made Harry very defensive of her. Maybe a little strong with his convictions with his actions and words. He was reacting like any father and new husband would. It’s now hard to imagine. Or understand for that matter. The press was brutal to her all the time. The pressure to be excellent was intense. It probably would not have been as bad if she hadn’t been pregnant and then a new mom. A lot of women suffer from post pregnancy depression. I would think with all that was happening in their lives without much support from the Windsor’s. It would be near impossible. So I’m guessing Harry was true to his Red headed temper. I think the rest of them probably have a bit of spice as well. Andrew was a known bore. He was rude many times, on the record.. I am stating that no families are picture perfect and I doubt that they are any different than the rest of us. Take way all the gowns and crowns and you have anyone who does a lot of charity work. They all do that. I commend them for it. They are well compensated. Actually I think that they give their money from the duchy of Landcaster to the government and then the government pays them from that and the government keeps the rest. It’s a decent arrangement. I digress. Im just of the opinion that the press is way off base and make up stories to make money on them. Truth doesn’t matter with tabloid media. Give the kids a chance. They are still learning about life in their 30’s. I remember what it was like. I hope that whole family remembers that they are a family first. Then a monarchy. They should realize they aren’t any better than the rest of us. They still put their pants on one leg at a time.

Harry, did not "invent" the Invictus games, the name maybe, but he got the idea from an already established similar competition. The Warrior Games in the US were his "inspiration". It wasn't a giant leap of imagination from there to an "international" comp., but a worthwhile one, and he had the notoriety needed to manage to get it going. That has been an achievement he can be proud of, even though he would not have done the hard slog of the organization side of it, just the front man publicity job of bringing the project to the attention of all, and, bringing the donors to the table.

So, Valentine Low says the titles are irrelevant - really? If so, why do they want to keep them, and the bigger question is why give any titles in the first place if they have no relevancy? As regards the County of Sussex, it is a County divided into East and West. They visited one half for a few hours and have done nothing to promote the area since. Yes and no. While I understand the need for a slimmed down monarchy - especially in today's political and economical climate -, I believe it should be done carefully and with regards to the lives those royal children/young adults live. I don't know the situation of the Swedish royals, but as far as I know the Danish royals in question don't live in Denmark, don't have any official duties, and made a life for them outside of the royal sphere. I am absolutely for stripping them of HRH and Prince/Princess titles in such cases, though I would not necessarily be against them having lesser honorary title since they are still members of the/a royal family. But if they were stepping up and decided to serve their country and fulfill royal duties to a considerable extend, I think they then should be entitled to have those responsibilities reflect in their titles. The way something like this could work, would be to have a review of anyone who would traditionally be eligible for those titles when they are like 25 and 30 years old. If they fulfill certain requirements and express their sincerity in wanting to serve crown and country at the 25 they may receive these titles on a "probationary" basis to be made either permanent (unless any gross misconduct necessitates the stripping if titles) or revoked once they turn 30.

What needs to happen is unless you're the direct heir from day one you are raised to have a career, you are given titles that stay with you your whole life, or no titles at all when you're born, and NO ONE works for the Monarchy. Not Princess Royal, Not Sofie or Edward, not Prince Andrew. No one but the heir and his family. I think it stinks to high heaven. Princess Eugene and Princess Beatrice were on purpose left out on helping. It is set up to divide families and make them dysfunctional. If the British Royal Family doesn't come up with a solution, this will be Prince Louie some day. Because if you think he will enjoy being second fiddle to Prince George you're crazy. Do you not understand that a house divided against itself will not stand? There may not be a future Monarchy because of their own doing. While only one person can become the next monarch, other members of the family have still their parts to play that are equally important. It's the same as with big family enterprises where you usually also only have one big boss, which doesn't mean that siblings, cousins, aunt's and uncles, and children can't find their place within the company as well. I also have never read/heard about Eugene, Beatrice, or any of the other members of the RF publicly complaining about being seen or treated as less then. Also, if only the monarch (plus spouse) and the heir (plus family) is allowed to work for the monarchy, they won't be able to keep up with all the work they are doing know, which might eventually lead to the question of why we would then still need a monarchy in the first place. I think that's something where King Charles need to be very careful with his idea of slimming down the monarchy - it shouldn't be slimmed down to a point where they won't be able to fulfill their duties anymore.

Harry isn't the only one to lose a mother at such an early age. But I blame Diana who told the boys they could do anything they wanted as long as they didn't get caught. She indulged them. Charles indulged them. And so did the Queen. So they're to take part of the blame as well. The whiney prince was never forced to grow up and so the Monarchy let him be a man-child without facing consequences for his action. He's immature for his age, not terribly smart, and wasn't taken seriously in the Firm because he came across as childish. All are to blame, including harry as he's an adult in his late 30s. But I don't blame him for seeing that he has a limited shelf life just like andrew. The family should have told andrew and harry to take advantage of the excellent education that was provided to them and seek out a meaningful career outside the Firm. Basically I have for some time thought that the real "Bone of Contention" for Harry's wife was an inability to accept or even understand just how protocol works within the institution. It has nothing at all to do with popularity, nor with how many "followers" one may have on social media. Protocol has to do with one's importance to an "organisation"(government, corporation, royal family etc.) As such with the new Prince and Princess of Wales, being next in line to the throne it is obvious that they should be accorded such a prominent position, within The Royal Family. The fact that they fill it so well, with grace, dignity, yet with empathy and apparent genuine interest, is a bonus. With Prince Harry now being demoted to sixth in line to the throne, even before their flight to Montecito, Harry's wife had to finally accept that she would never effectively be able to use her position within the family to obtain the degree of social pre-emminence she felt that she was/is entitled to..!!

In my opinion, Harry was capable of doing whatever Princess Anne does, and he'll be successfully as she is. Now, he moved away from the Royal family, which is fine, but he struggles to make a living in the luxury that he wanted to. Thrashing his family will not help him at all to manage the money he needs to get. There is nothing else to tell, about the monarchy, that we already know. Besides that is really ugly way to earn money. If he proceed what he planned todo, I'm pretty sure he'll totally loose popularity. I think it’s not a bad thing that Harry thought about his future. I am sure he foresaw his father’s intent to slim down the monarchy and he has to build something for his own sustainability. But he doesn’t have any experience and relied on others to show the way. Unfortunately he went the Hollywood celebrity way which requires a product, whether it’s connections or talent or something to trade. All Harry has is his nobility as a prince of a much respected monarchy. And he underestimated the monarchy being so deeply rooted and cherished that it’s beyond his ability to sell it to the highest bidder. This should be a humbling life experience for him. He could just open a cafe or boutique in LA or Santa Barbara which will have higher chance of success for his future. Just my opinion ✌️
