Farmers are used to the “impractical nonsense” of the animal rights organisation PETA - but their latest take on the mice plague “takes the cake”, says NSW Farmers Vice President Xavier Martin.
“Look farmers are used to the totally impractical nonsense that PETA come up with almost on a daily basis - but this one pretty well takes the cake,” he told Sky news host Chris Kenny.
The mouse infestation is devastating farmers and their livelihoods and is on track to cause a $100 million damage bill.

Let's not be stupid about this - PETA doesn't turn any animal away thus, every animal that comes to them cannot be homed and sadly will have to be euthanised. The shelters that are "no kill" have the luxury of only taking in the animals they have room for, the rest (96.4% of them) are turned away instead of being euthanised and simply go on to another shelter that does euthunise animals. It isn't PETA that's the problem, this is the fault of people that breed these animals and the people whom abandon them. PETA and the rest of the animal shelters are just left to clean up the mess. The breeders and the owners get to dump their animals without any problem to themselves, they don't have to try and find homes or pay for boarding kennels or even pay for euthanasia, they simply dump them at a shelter and leave it for someone else to clean up their mess!!

Some ex-con who earns a living pushing veganism gives talks to little kids in schools. This is the face of the modern vegan movement. It ain't rational but you might need to get used to it. I love animals and I used to donate a monthly amount to Peta here in England. I trusted that the money would be used for the relief of animal suffering, and I'm sure other donors have the same expectation. However, I cancelled my donation when I saw their CEO appear on a t.v. interview telling us , the public, that we should not be using verbal expressions such as 'dirty pig' or using the word 'catty' for someone nasty etc. She also made patronising comments that we should not call each other names, and that we should all try being nice to each other instead. This made my blood boil. This Woke nonsense was a complete waste of donors' money. Instead of using the interview to promote the welfare of animals, she spent the interview time lecturing us all on good manners and genteel speech. I wrote to her and told her why I was cancelling my donation. I, of course, received no reply. But Peta kept sending me pamphlets and appeals for money. I wrote to a more local branch and told them to stop sending me their literature. PETA are a disgraceful organisation who spend more time and money on virtue signalling than on care for animals.

From someone who has rescued dozens and dozens of animals over the years, and also had a resident rat - I suppose YOU would call it a rat infestation - issue. They lived in my attic for decades, and in my yard. I realized it was my fault that I had bird feeders and animal feed out that attracted rats, and stopped this. And also when I had my roof replaced, the rats departed, and then we replaced the roof and made sure to seal off all areas that rats or mice could enter.

I have a small rat family, I see three, in my barn yard, I don’t bother them, they don’t seem to cause any trouble to my chickens. But that is three, and my cat and dog both spend a lot of time keeping them in check. BUT I had one single lady rat in my house, I thought it was a mouse, I could not catch her ( mostly because I was using mouse traps), during her brief residence she chewed through the water line to my kitchen flooding and ruining the floor, then proceeded to chew through the refrigerant line on my refrigerator, ruining the compressor. Finally, thank heaven, my house cat caught her. That was one! They are smart, and terribly destructive just going about their life. Later when we bought the house next door from a hoarder and started clearing it of junk the entire neighborhood had to hire exterminators, us included. The only nitwit who worries about “catch and rehome” for millions of mice or rats has never had just one in their house, or God forbid in the crawl space under their house! I'd be all for it if there's a way to make sure the mice and rats aren't diseased to the point of spreading it to pets. Though if you burn them to dust that may be a good fertilizer component.

People see feral cats carrying a rat in their mouth and feel sorry for them, go to the store, buy cat food, and feed the feral cats the better food. This is a horror story. These mad people who want to save them ..... I thought that was a bad joke. I live in NewZealand and we are surrounded by fields that have been cut for hay. We don’t own the farm we just choose to live here, but at this time of year we start to get mice coming in. It’s freezing outside in the morning. First sign was two days ago , potatoes in my kitchen pantry had been nibbled. Today I have the Pest control people coming to replace the bait boxes. That’s effective enough for us . They eat the bait and go outside looking for water then die. I HATE rats and mice. Whoever that crazy woman was, put a couple of hundred in her home as a gift and see how she likes them in her bed. Two mice six weeks old can breed a litter and so it goes on. My heart goes out to all those farmers in Australia. Hope that deadly bait arrives soon.

I’m watching this now at 00:40hrs in the morning in Wales listening to some vegan mental animals rights nutter thinking it’s a viable to collect millions of these nasty crop destroying evasive rodents and contemplate releasing them elsewhere so they could do the same there. I agree with the PETA folks 100%. These mice should be rounded up and relocated to PETA offices, member houses, cars, and caravans, and especially into their gardens.
