‘Miserable woke crowd’ blasted for not wanting people to ‘celebrate Australia Day’

Sky News host Rowan Dean has blasted the “miserable woke crowd” for not wanting people to celebrate Australia Day.
“There are other things you can do to celebrate Australia Day even if the miserable woke crowd don’t want you to,” Mr Dean said.
Mr Dean was joined by ‘Celebrate Australia’ Convenor Daniella Heatherich to discuss Australia Day.

Dear Australians, I am from the USA and been to your wonderful country twice for a month each time driving all around the country enjoying the amazing place, people, landscapes and animals. Having no control over history is one thing. But you do have control over how you handle the ongoing legacy of that history, and choosing to ignore it is not respectful or helpful. Until this country confronts and acknowledges its dark history and takes real steps to address the ongoing injustices faced by indigenous Australians (which includes not celebrating a day that is a significant part of that dark history)

@philbis2774 Every single country settled on this earth has a dark angry history as well as a happy light history. We are ALL Indigenous from somewhere else, ALL OF US. We.and our Indigenous peoples have all been abused or racially prejudiced against. One culture/ethnicity starts a fight, and another culture/ethnicity retaliates by fighting back. It takes 2 people to start a war, fight a war AND END a war. It is never one sided. People have gotten better with negotiating and compromising over the centuries, usually over land and possession. Humans have also evolved from being different tribes/cultures to becoming cohesive aligned societies together. Some people, though, have not evolved from old beliefs and archaic ways. So that still causes problems. Religion/beliefs has always been a big hurdle to overcome because it was unyielding or unbending of free thinking. A religious hierarchy that would not evolve in the past, but now it's becoming more pliable with open thought. Every single country should celebrate it's colonists, settlers, and Indigenous and their special days equally in unity together, not apart and divided.

Australia Day 9th of May !!! Australia became a country on the day that the first Australian Parliament met, May 9 1901 !!! January 26th was the day that the New South Wales penal colony was founded. Most countries celebrate the day they gained independence, rather than the day that they were colonised. The 9th of May is a day that EVERY single Australian can celebrate !! We could be celebrating and teaching the vision of Henry Parkes and the other federationists who brought the separate colonies together into the one great multicultural first world country that we have become together !!
