The Intuit Dome alone cost nearly $2 billion dollars to construct, privately funded by the way. The budget for Brisbane so far is $4.9 billion US dollars. They shouldn't compare but just admire what they actually got.

Just to let Aussies know, LA has these venues already, as in, built for other events. We are a very big city, so that is the only reason we can do that. And we've hosted two other times. I'm an LA native, and I'm sure Brisbane will be amazing in its own right. Can't wait to go back to Australia!

As an Angelino, I don’t see why Australians need to feel any negative way about Brisbane’s bid. We know it’s not LA, but it’ll be wonderful to see the Olympics go at a new host city, especially after Paris and LA. Just keep up the work and be ready. We’re just hoping LA’s light rail/subway network is ready in time and that traffic isn’t snarled around the venues. Also, knowing the geography and venues at play, let me advise visitors to pick a venue or event you really want to see, and plan to stay near that venue. For example, if you want to see swimming at SoFi Stadium, book a hotel in Inglewood or near LAX. If track and field events are what you want, stay near downtown/Exposition Park.

Both will be great. This is literally the example of what parents do to not compare siblings. Each Olympics offers something different and that’s okay. As an American, I’m more excited to see what Australia has to offer.

Are we perfect in LA...no. But 90% of LA is the globally recognized economic and cultural powerhouse that everyone knows...or loathes. If you don't want to come, watch it on TV. Otherwise, we'll be happy to have you and hope you take a piece of Southern California back home with you. Never heard of Brisbane but I'm sure they'll do their best in their own way.

Brisbane was the only bidding city left, after the IOC rejected the the bid of the Rhine-Ruhr region as they wanted a city - not a region - despite saying otherwise before. Very few cities now even want to host the Olympics.

@@tobiwan001 it’s regional even when a city hosts. For example, basketball in Paris was in Lille. LA will host to events in Oklahoma and many events will be outside the LA city limits. I suspect that the IOC wants a single entity to sign and be liable.

Not true. Paris has one famous sports stadium in need of modernization. LA has many world famous sports venues. The LA Memorial Colosseum is more famous than any sports venue in Paeis.

Paris has set the bar for Olympic Sport Venues. Using 95% original venues, It has truly been magical to watch volleyball under the Eiffel Tower, fencing in the Grand Palais and Horse riding by the Versailles and much more. LA28 and Brisbane would have to work hard.

Not sure If you're aware but LA has a lot of arenas and stadiums. There's about 10 with 4 which have +50,000 capacity. And that's not even including the neighboring counties.

As an American I’m very excited for the Brisbane 2032 Olympics. It’ll be an awesome spectacle 🤗 Plus I hope Gold Coast can play somewhat of a role, even though it’s not Brisbane… Those beautiful beaches and towering skyscrapers just look too good on TV Also, any time the “Summer” Olympics are being held in the Southern Winter, it’s always nice… Fans and athletes get to escape the heat and enjoy cool or even cold weather

Ok, as a Midwest American, I’d rather the city of LA & Brisbane not go into debt to host the Olympics. Use what resources you have available. Please, please, please don’t overleverage yourselves just to host the Olympics for the sake of your citizens, like many cities in the past did. I am not sure how Brisbane compares (honestly never heard of it before; no one overseas has heard of where I live either) but LA is the second biggest city in the US, so of course their venues are huge. At the end of the day, as long as the athletes have a good place to sleep and compete, it’s all good. So who cares if it holds less? Just means prices for tickets will be higher. Looking forward to learning more about your city when the time comes. 👍

What they failed to mention is Los Angeles has hosted the games two previous times, with the last being 40 years ago.(6 year old me had blast at the events I was able to attend.) We have 90% of the venues existing. Los Angeles is the only city who technically host an Olympics with a year’s notice. I plan to attend the 2028 games and I’d love to see a smaller intimate type of games when Brisbane host.

Paris also hosted the swimming as a temporary construction in a rugby and concert arena ☺️ Taylor Swift played their Paris-concerts in the same venue in may 2024. ☺️ I don't think Brisbane should build bigger stadiums without a legacy plan. otherwise media will show those too big stadiums as an example how citys should NOT host the games

To be fair to Brisbane they only got it because absolutely nobody else really wanted the expense of hosting. So it is not really difficult to win a one horse race. I did chuckle at usual Aussie dig at Paris hosting the best games in decades, what would that be then right back to Sydney I suppose! I bet both Beijing and London sold more tickets overall than Sydney, and Tokyo would have done without Covid. Brisbane looks like a large Commonwealth games when you compare it to hosts from aforementioned proper world cities. However they disgracefuly choked on hosting the Commonwealths so you don't want them to overspend and bankrupt Queensland ala Montreal.

Why was Brisbane ever given the 2032 Olympics? It does not have the infrastructure need to host such a large sporting event. Even Paris turned out to be a trainwreck. Remember, part of the reason the Los Angeles 2028 will probably be amazing, is due to everything being pre-existing venues and private funding. While, the athletes will sleep in the UCLA dormitories. The USA does not dump the Olympics on its taxpayers. This was part of NYC and Chicago’s plans too, when they bid on 2012 and 2016. Same goes for Detroit and Boston to a lesser extent, as they both rescinded their bids.
