They could have move Rowing to Oklahoma City as it is home to the USA Rowing High Performance Center. Instead of using the old 1932 Olympic Rowing Basin at Long Beach is 500 m short of current 2000m standards, it also may be too narrow.

Because it’ll be right in the middle of baseball season when the Dodgers and Angels are playing

Turns out Oklahoma City is home to the Olympics training facility for slalom, and has the largest softball stadium in the world. So, the athletes already know what they are in for.
