Actually, Imane was (allegedly) confirmed to be intersex, possessing ambiguous genitalia. And based on childhood photos, she appears to have been raised female. I think given the extremely conservative politics of her home country, it’s very dangerous to misrepresent her as simply “a biological man in disguise.” Intersex people can be murdered for rhetoric like this. Olympics aside, I hope she’s still safe.

It's not the first man with this disorder to win gold in the Olympic games. Caster Semenya also has this condition and Caster has two gold Olympic medals. Caster calls herself a different kind of woman but she's married to a woman and also has no uterus. Higher levels of testosterone make these intersex individuals a lot more competitive when it comes to women. Their internal testes still produce testosterone within male ranges. I can imagine how difficult it must be for them but it can't be that difficult for the Olympics commission to determine that if a person has testes and no uterus, they should not be allowed to compete against those with a uterus. Or else, they should allow doping because being intersex is like natural doping.

I remember watching the Gold medal match, and Imame was so much bigger and stronger in the shoulders, the arms, quicker reflexes, much more muscle mass. Imame was popping the opponent pretty easily - the opponent was a Chinese girl (who I remember was very good) she gave a an excellent account of herself.. The Chinese competitor was clearly trained in combat sports - she was in there trying her guts out and did okay.. But she's in there against a biological man, who has 40% more muscle mass (even in the same weight class), faster, stronger, quicker reflexes, stronger neck, stronger chin, so he can take a bigger punch.. What an absolute farce.

This one is an unfortunate situation, as transgenderism and intersex disorders are two very different things. And it’s not the athlete’s fault. But…it is incredibly unfair and unsafe. The Olympic Committee needed to make the right decision to preserve his/her dignity and the safety of the other athletes by not allowing them to compete against biological women. Months ago, i was willing to support this male as a female, because some report said she was capable of giving birth at some point in his life.
