i worked on sky rider back in 98, amazing summer to work that ride, it hold a lot of memories for me,.. it will be missed by a lot of people

How was the park in 98 with paramount owning it and all I would love to know
@jamesnolan8007 жыл бұрын
Infamous Productions It was pretty cool. Not much different from today. When paramount owned CWL they had a ride called "Top Gun" which was obviously derived from the movie and "Days of Thunder" also derived from the movie. I'm not too sure if days of thunder is still there. I do know Top Gun coaster is still there but now has a different name.

I worked on Skyrider in 2011. It was a good workout. The joke on our crew was you didn't need a gym membership if you were working Skyrider!!
@wking125 Жыл бұрын
@brianmcdonald6519 that was for sure... total agreement. I recall we got the dispatch rate of trains up to 25 per hr. Can't recall if yhat was high as so long ago.
@wking125 Жыл бұрын
@jamesnolan800 since they sold the park over to Cedar fair. Ride names based on films were changed. The top gun is now flight deck, days of thunder shut down, and the action theater was pretty much removed from public access areas

I'm seeing this video for the first time in 2024. My family visited Wonderland for the first time a couple weeks ago, and we loved it! Our home park is Kings Island, so we had King Cobra. I was litterally one summer off from being tall enough when they removed it way back in 2001. I remember my parents and older siblings always talking about how much they loved it. I was still a little scared of it at the time, but looking back, I would've loved it if i got the chance. Sad part is, it sat behind the scenes in pieces for like 10 years. We didn't make it to Kings Dominion before Shockwave got removed either. Granted, we could all go to Itally and still ride Skyrider, but who's got the time and money for that.

Pardon the language but I am SO. FUCKING. BUMMED about this! I'm from Cincinnati, home of King's Island and the original installation of this coaster/track layout design with King Cobra. Unfortunately, I was a total bitch about getting on coasters until I was well into my teens and only managed to put myself on King Cobra once. It just so happened to be the last year of operation for it (2001). Only last week did I discover an identical copy of it still existed at Canada's Wonderland. I was excited at the prospect of getting the King Cobra experience again until moments later when I found out they were closing it Sept 1st; way too short notice to plan a trip up to ride it :o( . Sure, King's Dominion has Shockwave but the track layout is different for the last quarter of the ride. The "trick track" section and the double bunny hop at the end really upped the uniqueness of the ride and Shockwave cut those elements out :/

I got the chance to ride every single ride at Canada’s Wonderland… except for SkyRider. I have to go to Cavallino Matto in Italy now to ride it (but even if I get the chance) it’ll probably never feel like the same experience as it was at Canada’s Wonderland. RIP SkyRider, live on as Freestyle!

@SuperballsSupervidsOnYT8 жыл бұрын
It was a simple coaster with some really cool elements. It was also designed to be a standup so it wasn't insane. The loop was bone standard and nothing special but that hill after it was amazing, it was the best airtime hill in the entire park. My first time on it I actually grabbed on to the restraints, and I never hold on (except the time I broke my ribs on Wild Beast). The helix was fun and the trick track section was this kind of pointless neat. I'm sad my GF never got to ride it as she only started to go on roller coasters this year.
@jamesnolan8007 жыл бұрын
Superballs' Supervids You actually broke your ribs. How did that happen? Didn't it have a lap bar only. That ride was rough wooden and old. Minebuster was fucking awesome. I actually met Roberto Alomar at the exit of that ride back in 1992 at the height of the Toronto Blue Jays by sheer luck. I will never ever forget that. I remember Roberto Alomar said Shhhh to a fan saying "Hey it's Roberto Alomar".

The ride was a piece of crap no doubt. Doesn't mean people who grew up with it won't miss it. I had seasons passes from 85-89 (age 5-9) so I distinctly remembering every summer I was closer to riding it. I still think the park's most tragic loss was Zumba Flume...again not very good, but for nostaliga. It was one of those safe rides to ride while your food digests and also on a hot day where you didn't want to get SOAKED.

The fact that u guys say rip for a ride is hilarious lol but I rode this ride before it gives me a severe head ache, if you were to go on it which u can't anymore i suggest u go on it last as a ride! They could've used more support when it comes to the neck/head area.

EvaristeWK 📹🎮 They cant e stop a ride, i know that it has happend only at parks that do not even allow a camera in a que line but they can only stop you when you are boarding on. Just wear it under a sweater and unzip it on the lift hill if you have a chest mount
