Steelplate remains my favourite, especially when combined with a Dawnguard full helmet. It just makes my character looks like a knight. If only there was an unenchanted version of that helmet though.

Wolf armor might not look the best, but the weight of it is stupid light and if you have 100 Smithing all the HV but iron can get you to the max av cap w/very little points into the heavy armor skill tree; so no point in wasting the perk to make it way nothing if you can live w/Wolf; it's like wearing light armor in actual weight. suprised you didn't talk about the Helm of Yngol, probably the coolest found heavy armor helmet in the game.

My personal method when leveling up armor is the same with the giant, but I damage the giant close enough to where I can one hit them then run while they heal while also spamming the wait button so you can wait for 1 hour and you get all your health back also put in novice to absorb more hits it's also great for leveling up block.

To level heavy armor just be bonked by giants and mammoths, you'll also level restoration if that's what you wanna do.

Heavy armor is best at low levels, especially when paired with a shield. If you have to go toe to toe with an enemy it helps. Steel Smithing being a base perk helps a small bit as well. Once you get past the last difficulty spike in the core game, which happens around level 30, then switching to Light Armor makes the most sense.

@@XoRandomGuyoX The alternate strategy I employ is to use light armor, so that I'm leveling that up from the start, and employing flesh spells, so that i can start working my alteration level up for the magic resistance perks. It's just a matter of getting into the habit of powering up oak/stoneflesh if you aren't running a mod to automatically cast them.

@@publiusdos5925 The simple mod I run extends the Flesh spells to a 10 minute duration. That's usually enough time to clear a dungeon cell of enemies. So I get in the habit of recasting and quicksaving before entering the next cell. While you do get the 125 unlisted armor points from wearing either armor type and carrying a shield, Heavy Armor still has faster progression in defense to stay alive at low levels.

sigh.. The Armor cap in Skyrim is 567 (80% damage reduction) so there is really no "best" armor because you can reach this with any armor Light or heavy. so just use the one that looks the coolest. TLDR; Best armor = Elven becuase it's weight. all other info was good though, nice vid

To me the Blades armor looks like Tyrin and Jamie Lannister used on GoT My favorite piece is the DawnGuard set, that reminds me of the one used by Ser Arthur Dayne and the Kings Guard. The option to change colors also got me stuck on it.

Well I mean what difficulty are you on? If just adept than I mean...are your skills good? If all you did was smith heavy armor than you aren't going to last you still need perks in the tree. If anything else remember to ALWAYS have healing on hand. You ain't no sneaky thief you are taking hits and drawing aggro. Bring a companion along. Preferably Someone like Mjoll or Serena who are essential and cannot die.

Heartily agree with the wolf armor. Looks like they are making fun of the companions with that one. Orcish and Daedric are in that category for me too. Just look goofy. And the Bonemold armor looks like Skyrim's attempt at a medieval Predator. Ridiculous. My favs are Nordic Carved, Dawnguard, Stormcloak officer (not the regular) and Blades armors are all great. Steel plated is right up there too. Ancient Nordic has a great look to it. Not a fan of the box-y style of the Dwarven. I have a hard time deciding on the Ebony set. I know its top rank, I can see the appeal, but I am just not drawn to it. I feel like there's no real theme there, just shiny. Can't get into it.
