To this day, Arvak is still the most useful horse in the game, at least to me. The only horse I ever bother with. Being able to summon him (regardless of my Conjuration skill level) any time I need a horse just makes all the other horses in the game completely obsolete. Even if he dies, unlike the other horses in the game, I can immediately turn around and summon him right back. BEST HORSE IN THE GAME.

If you ever want to go back to the Soul Cairn you can unlock a location right outside of the tower. It is called Castle Volikhar Balcony.

Me and my husband got dawn gaurd when it came out. I was so excited for the new missions. Turns out I never cared to really play it but just play the rest of the game slowly, I even watched my husband play and I didn't care about the vampire crap it didn't intrest me. FYI, the unofficial patch seems to let you use a weapon whilst mounted on Arvak. (Tested with Dawnguard Rune Axe)

You do not really need a map for this one. If you get lost just look up. Look at the towers and the purple wall. It's pretty much the size of a kingdom or 2. And as an added measure just make sure you leave a marker before you enter. The marker will always show up at the entrance.

BrownieMuc. There's a glitch using the ring of hircine, your character will be a vampire but you can transform into either vampire lord or werewolf at will.

Hmm, I can't remember if you have to originally be a werewolf in order for this to work, but I do know that the key item is having the ring of hircine which is a daedric artifact obtained through a quest which you start by speaking to a werewolf in the Falkreath dungeon. Just watch a youtube video for some more clarity.

I didn't try using a sword, but you can use a waraxe. PS3 is the system I primarily play Skyrim on and where the waraxe use occured.

I found a funny glitch with arvak: If you mount him, quicksave, then quickload, you will be sent flying. this may only work in the soul cairn.

BEST. HORSE. EVER. If Marvel Comics' GHOST RIDER had a horse instead of his bad-ass motorcycle, Arvak would be that horse. Theoretically, Arvak could help you survive, say, JUMPING OFF HIGH HROTHGAR, right?
