Marriage Starter's Guide
1. To get married, you'll first need the Amulet of Mara. While wearing this jewelry, you will unlock new dialogue options with certain NPCs.
2. Buy the amulet from Maramal, sold for 200 coins. Maramal can be found in Riften, either in the Temple of Mara or in the Bee and Barb.
*The amulet can also be found in a chest at the beginning of Bleak Falls Barrow - a main quest.
3. To get married, you must first speak with an NPC and talk to them about marriage. They might accept, or require a small quest to be completed. If your Speech skill is high, you can attempt to raise their disposition to you, or bribe them.
4. If they do accept, speak to Maramal at the Temple of Mara to plan the wedding.
A married NPC will move into whatever house you own and provide several benefits.
Your spouse will cook one meal a day, which raises your health and stamina. Your spouse will also follow you as a companion if requested, defending you or attacking enemies on your orders. They will also carry some of your equipment for you. Spouses will sometimes give you gifts.
Now that you're married, you should probably be looking for a house to buy. You might also want to look into curing that whole werewolf thing. On second thought, you might want to cure that beforehand.

The one thing I felt let down by in the marriage feature was that my character couldn't have kids with my wife. Oh sure they allowed adoption in Hearthfire, but I just don't understand why having my own kids wasn't an option.

People sometimes complain that they can't get married to a certain person or that they won't get married because you can't get divorced. Well I have a solution and all you'll need is a follower and some imagination 1. Buy two silver rings ahead of time as these will act as your wedding bands. 2. If you are like me and really like to go all out on your wedding buy some clothes specifically for the wedding. 3. Next the actual wedding itself , go to the temple in Riften and look up a recording of what the priest says on the internet and play it to appear as if the priest is joining you two together 4. After that part is done give spouse one of the rings while you wear the other , usually this is when they ask where you want to live at . I would want them to live with me so if I didn't want them to follow me I would tell them to wait in our house ( Though if you're not back in three days they will go back to their original home.) After following all those steps you are now " married " to your husband or wife , the best part ? You can divorce them if you want and marry someone else.( I personally used this to " marry" Serana )

i dont think you need to buy the amulet because at dawnstar if you go to the right (as in point right on the map) along the sea you should come across a sanctuary. keep going and you will find a tent. i found the amulet in there

It's a spell, "Bound Sword", conjuration I think. Pretty good damage and you don't need to sneak it through anywhere.

You have to buy one, either the default ones or the three from hearthfire dlc. On PC, there is alittle mod called 'Spouses Can Live Everywhere' that allow spouses to live in any modded house too.

Kaixvv No. As soon as he says "attend it tomorrow" wait 24 hours and enter the temple, you should get a message that says "Enter your wedding ceremony" on top of the screen. Mine worked first time.

This is propably most bugged quest in all Elder Scrolls series -.- When I wan't to marry someone and wait to next day, 95% times wedding doesn't start. Everybody congratulate my Character and that is all. And no fix mods for this stupid quest...

***** Right now I'm using many mods, like unofficial skyrim patches, better vampires etc. I usually don't use "problematic" mods like new animations or changing skeletons. But problem with marriage I was have also in 100% vanilla Skyrim. Sometimes I have luck and quest goes perfect, but it is completely random -.- I used also mod called "Marriage Mod - To Have And To Hold" that supposed to fix many marriage bugs, but in my case It doesn't change anything... PS: Forgive me for any errors. My english isn't perfect ;)

GUYS!!! Help me please! So, I already knew how to do this, but I think I have a bug, and I tried everything, but I just can't solve it. I go to the NPC that I want to marry. We agree for a wedding, then I go to Maramal, to arrange the wedding. Everything goes fine, I wait a day, go in the temple. The wedding starts, Maramal starts speaking, still fine. But then, when I say "I Do. Now, and Forever.", nothing happens. I don't get the ring, nor do I complete the quest. But after I hit ESC to get out of the dialogue, the NPCs start getting out of the temple, but no one speaks. And when I try to get out of the temple, my game freezes. I've tried multiple commands, disabling mods, and I'm afraid that my game is corrupt somehow, so I can't get married. Any idea on how I could fix this?

on my ps3 i could only marry on so manny play throughs and after that it will glitch and the miscilanious objective would come up "Atened your wedding" and then imeddiedly it would say "Failed atend your wedding" and i would talk to my spouse to be and they would be pissed and i would talk them in to trying again and then i would go into the temple and wait and i would standing in THE TEMPLE and it would still say i failed so icould never get the trophy again:(
