Aela actually confirms in dialogue that the rumors of her and Skjor being in a relationship aren't true. The real reason she and Skjor are always sneaking off with each other is because they go hunting in werewolf form (but would be attacked if townsfolk realized they were werewolves), but other members of the Companions (that aren't aware of the Circle members being werewolves) assume they're sneaking off to get intimate. Which makes it clear as to why they can't really explain why they sneak off to put the rumors to rest...

@@AmyHoldaway27 There's another line of radiant dialogue between her and Skjor that you may hear when they're close to each other about going out to "hunt" which is what clues in to them just being platonic. They're the two that are really into being werewolves and take all the chances they can to use the beast blood powers so that combined with the denials of them being intimate since its not forbidden makes me pretty certain they're just friends. Plus, if they were romantically involved, I think it'd be pretty weird that she'd be ready to marry someone so soon after his death once your character finishes the quest line

First NPC I married was Marcurio the mage from Riften. You just pay him 500 gold to be your follower and he's ready to marry you immediately. He's also insanely powerful. He's taken down enemies I struggled heavily with, and because I'm part of the thieves' guild, he basically also doubles as a partner in crime. By far, the best spouses are also followers. Being a battle couple is fantastic, even if I had to buy his cooperation.

Aela was always annoyed with my about our children I adopted because I always built a home at the Lakeview Manor area and she would occasionally ask me what was I thinking about living in such an area with the children since the home could frequently be attacked by a giant or skeevers depending on what add-on or features you built for your house.

What I like most about this series is learning about NPC's I generally avoided, intentionally or not. Also realizing I have a pretty strong bias to talking to mostly women in my play-throughs. A recurring theme throughout this series is me saying, "Oh he's marriageable? Huh." or, "Wait, he has a quest to do?". I enjoy the effort put into adding context to these character's who are often not in the general spot-light.

My 3 wife choices depending on play style: 1) Muiri (Bad Guy MC) - I mean come on! She gets all hot for you after you kill a few people for her? That's wife material right there! 2) Serana (Vampire MC) - OK obviously with mods but you gotta marry her at least once! 3) Erdi (Hero MC) - When you first meet her in the Blue Palace she says: "Are you my gallant hero? Have you come to whisk me away, to a life of adventure and romance?" How can you say no to that? Well I mean obviously vanilla you have to... But through the magic of mods you can say YES!

Brelynyna was the first one I married in Skyrim because her personality was so adorable. And also the College was the first faction I joined on my very first playthrough and it seemed fitting to marry someone from that faction.

For Aela's relationship with Skjor, it is confirmed in game that they were not romantically involved, but like-minded in their hate of the Silver Hand. While Kodlak Whitemane counselled the members of the Companions (specifically the Circle) to give the SIlver Hand a wide berth and only fight when confronted, Aela and Skjor were escalating the conflict by repeatedly attacking Silver Hand encampments and strongholds.

i like to headcanon that after commiting to the way of the voice, despite the power and strength required to fulfil his destiny honourable though it may be, two realisations hit him. 1: Hes the last of his kind.. when he dies, even if he sires children, they will not be like him and he will never see them again as he will end up in akatosh's afterlife, not a place mortal's typically end up. 2: He realises his "gifts" make him incredibly isolated, basically unrelatable outside of his role as the ultimate hero. Hes a weapon of the god's, not an ordinary man who's achieved success and capable of finding love on his own merit, hes a tool to be used in the battle of good and evil and outside of that role, he isnt capable of settling down with someone. as his reason for existence is ultimately tied to alduins defeat. Who could understand him? Who could even relate let alone willingly bear such a burden? Always playing second fiddle to a destiny that the DB cannot fully understand OR escape himself? As a result, bitterness takes root deep in his heart, he becomes cruel and vengeful. And if it were not for his experiences with serana and miraak, would of become utterly irredeemable. But witnessing miraak's fate as a result of a lust for power and knowledge and witnessing serana's will to do good even though it flys in the face of her nature, it reminds him of paarthunax's teachings about being born good vs working on overcoming your evil nature, through great effort. He defeats alduin, and decides being an adoptive father is what he ultimately WANTS to be. This leads to a softening of his heart, eventually falling in love and gets married. Thus does the dragonborn fade from history, content that hes finally realised the true weight of an old dragons tinvaak. I still picture him sitting in old wooden chair on his front doorstep, next to his wife watching his kids playing together, content with such a simple life. He deserves it. Who wants to be high king anyway? Hes got all he needs right here...

I'm so happy to finally see Aela The Huntress on here! She was my first choice for multiple reasons. But mainly because I was an archer, and I had a little system where I would trade (take all of her money) with her, and then spend my gold to have her teach me archery.

Aela is genuinely the best, one time I married her and moved to Lakeview Manor. She was kidnapped by bandits and when I was on my way to rescue her I bumped into her walking back home. Maybe it was a weird glitch but I like to think she simply solved the problem herself, maybe even let herself be kidnapped so she could have the fun of fighting her way out of a bandit camp from the inside. I ended up walking back to our home with her, probably one of my top five favorite moments I've had in Skyrim, regardless of why it happened it was such a flavorful moment that made the game feel just a touch more alive.

Nate, if you want to do more of these I'd highly recommend the Amorous Adventures mod. It mods a bunch of quests and dialog to let you romance/seduce, I think like 30 NPCs including Serana and Elisiff and makes the Bard's college a lot more fun. Turns out it's actually more of a Venetian style courtesan school. Only major bug I've noticed is when you get to solitude for the first time SPRINT to the blue palace asap so the wolf skull cave quest doesn't run into a scripting bug.

I've married Brelyna on multiple playthroughs. I can assure you it has nothing to do with her ties to House Telvanni, I honestly didn't know what that was the first time. Mostly it's just that she's a Dunmer mage, which is what I tend to play myself. Figured the common interests would be there for my characters and her? About the best reason I ever had to marry any of the vanilla options. Some of those mod characters really spoil you for how interesting particular followers/spouses could have been.
