I really, really recommend people use the Experience mod. It truly changes the way you play the game because now you have to do quests and explore the world. More incentive to do side-quests and miscellaneous quests. Progression of power correlates more with how much you've seen and done in Skyrim. It really is one of the best mods you can get.

Somehow I managed to find a mod to use without Brodual showing it off first... can't say that happens often. Honestly, all these mods, all these design decisions, all this effort... If a group of 50 or so modders from all categories and Chris Avellone would come together and lead the design and writing of their own rpg and with a good team of programmers to back them up, it would honestly be a better game than any Bethesda ever made.
@kejopr233 жыл бұрын
True. I haven't been keeping track of things, but I wouldn't be surprised in Bethesda decided to collaborate with some modders- or atleast gain inspiration from them. At this point, they MUST pay attention to everything the community is changing in their game so that they can properly make ES6
@hjhjkhfkfkd3 жыл бұрын
You'd be surprised how shit the game would turn out. It's infinitely easier to mod than create from scratch.
@totallynuts75953 жыл бұрын
@@hjhjkhfkfkd You do realise these people pretty much redesigned Skyrim so many times, right? As I was saying, if you give them the resources (time, money, human, tech) and a good writer, these modders, who have fixed Bethesda's shit for so many years, would be able to make a better game. Because they are not 50 people making the whole bloody thing from scratch, they are 50 designers leading the project.
@hjhjkhfkfkd3 жыл бұрын
@@totallynuts7595 I know what your saying, but it's not very true. Praising modders and denigrating Bethesda is a trend that started out half joking until people started to believe it. Take the beyond skyrim project. That's more than 50 people, it's taking them ages and it looks comparable to a Bethesda game, not leagues better. And that's with them having the engine and animations already made.
@totallynuts75953 жыл бұрын
@@hjhjkhfkfkd Dude, Bethesda literally rely on modders to fix their games. Every Bethesda game is filled with bugs. And even worse is the tendency to dumb down the games: removing all the depth from levelling (seen in Skyrim and FO4), writing shit stories (Oblivion, FO3, Skyrim, FO4), making quest progression very linear (Oblivion forward) cutting out spells and weapons (Oblivion forward) dumbing down combat (Oblivion and Skyrim combat at level 1 is no different from level 100) or making shooting galleries (FO3 and 4) endless retconning and disregard for canon (Oblivion forward). It's insane how shit Bethesda's recent games are. Morrowind isn't perfect either, but it had more potential than the farce that is Skyrim or FO4. Since Morrowind, Bethesda has handicapped their games more and more.

Quite enjoying the alternate levelling experience currently (Playing Nolvus in which it's included as an option) along with level up only when you sleep and some light survival elements (Sunhelm + Keep it Clean). Which I find to be a nice balance of adding survival needs without making it the focus of the playthrough. Being a highly modded playthrough, I decided to focus mainly on filling out a heavily expanded Legacy of the Dragonborn gallery via picking a location of interest or quest objective and just walking over to it and exploring on the way. This pairs really well with this setup as it rewards you for general exploration, paired with Sunhelm and Keep it Clean, I need to take breaks to sleep etc so am incentivised to find spots to set up camp or find an inn eventually, which in turn also allows me to level up from my last exploration session and maybe pick up a few quests since they now grant exp also. So far I've been levelling at a nice pace naturally and haven't felt I'm missing out on the ability to just grind out a skills like smithing for example. Also takes the focus away from using particular skills and items during normal play for the sake of levelling a skill as you manually choose what to increase upon levelling. So you can use what you like for the situation rather than what you're trying to increase. It all just meshes together very nicely overall and every element of these mods is highly customisable to individual taste. I think these will be in every modlist I play from now on!

I think that i was hoping for a skill leveling like fallout for the elder scrolls. I’m not sure that many would agree with me, but I think that it would be interesting to have a blend of the two leveling types. I hope that Experience is eventually ported to the XBONE. The True Soul Absorption mod would also be great too as long as the ability to toggle the power of the settings isn’t overkill. For example, every dragon killed can give 1% less to your shout cool down, 5 points of health/magica/stamina, 5 points of extra carry weight, or a different buff to shouts like adding strength or longevity by 3%.
@ItsAstie Жыл бұрын
Note on the truly absorb dragon souls mod, I think that mod broke my fight with miraak so just a heads up. I just tried the experience mod and it is so much better than vanilla, it can feel a bit slow at times and skill caps can also feel annoying but it's for the best, it forces you to level in a balanced and healthy manner, if you want to have a good balanced leveling experience then everybody should def get that mod, although it will take you a bit of commitment to truly reach super high levels, I'm playing with a mage right now and several other mods to balance magic (Mysticism and Adamant, Ordinator does also balance magic if you want to use that) and it feels great so far. To solve the slowness and fastness issues that you might be having with Experience, I recommend getting the Leveling Freedom mod where you can adjust how much xp you need to gain in order to reach a certain level.

I'd be totally okay with an experience mod or mechanic in TES VI that changes the leveling system to be similar to Fallout 3 and New Vegas, where things like this increase your experience, and you then get to raise your skills by hand a certain amount depending on your Intelligence stat (assuming it's brought back). You could, for example, get 15 skill points to spend on level up with a high Int stat, and either spread it out or dump all of it into your primary combat skills.

oh gods no... the one thing that set the elder scrolls series apart and better than other rpgs was the removal of experience points, like it said in the daggerfall hand book: One thing that never made any sense was a thief could pick a thousand locks and and pockets but never grow as a thief but after killing a kobold, a thief could then level up and increase his/her skills in lockpicking and pickpocketing.
@pweaseadoptme53125 жыл бұрын
you didnt get the mod, you skill up normally by just picking locks but you level up by completing missions. This just removes the spamming blacksmith etc for the game
@mikfhan4 жыл бұрын
I would agree in some cases, though I don't know Daggerfall sadly. Skyrim could have you become a master lockpick, but in doing so with increasing non-combat skills you start encountering enemies who summon Daedra and wield Ebony weapons, because those non-combat skills grow your level, which in turn increases enemy levels also. Ideally your level would only grow as your combat ability does, but that also should account for your current equipment, buffs, enchantments, perks, etc. Probably easiest to just delevel all encounters in that case then, following an oldschool approach with every dungeon having a preset and single level, instead of a dynamic scaled level range.
