I love the footprints mod. I was sniping a mammoth from far away and it decided to retreat, but I had no idea where it went. So I followed it's footprints and actually tracked it to where it went. Definitely a Skyrim moment I am going to remember.

actually, torches would have much much more smoke, modern lit prop torches don't because of the fuels, but ancient torches did tend to create a lot of smoke and bad odor... also when held in front of you it's extremely hard to see past it in a dark enviroment, since your eyes adjust to the light of it, that's why candles and lanterns were a much better option.

"torches wouldn't normally give off this much smoke." That's kinda true. They'd give off much, much more smoke. That is, unless they use modern chemical combustion fuels. Medieval people didn't really use torches. They used candles if, for whatever reason, then needed a light. Even their lanterns used candles, as oil was expensive and dangerous.

Disclaimer: I am not a swordsman nor am I an expert, I am simply interested in the topic and done some research. About the parry animation mod, what you're doing in Skyrim is blocking, not parrying. Parrying is when you intercept your opponents blade and redirect it, which is often followed by a riposte (rip-os-tae) (that's another lesson). Blocking is something else, you're just stopping the blade, which can be done with gauntlets, shields, just about any weapon, or if you're ballsy enough, your bare hands. You see the blade/hammer/fist bounce off when you block, but I think that's just to add weight to the swing, and so they could use one "rebound" animation.

What i've learned the hard way is that less is more with modding Skyrim. Don't just bang in everything you feel like if you plan to play the game into higher levels. You will get issues in the long run unless you really know what you are doing, and even then. decide what you really can't live without and try to get a stable load order with that. Reseach mods: see if they may be script heavy, incompatible, and not updated for ages. Learn how to do it or the game will bite yer butt.

Another good thing, theoretically, about the footprint mod, is it helps with immersion for hunting as well. Not so much as where there isn't snow, but still. Now, if they had a mod that took it a step further, taking in damp soil, bare soil/dirt, or maybe even a little mod that can be toggled to notice tracks of creatures. :)

Wet and Cold has so many more features than Get Snowy that it's honestly just not worth installing GS. Wet and Cold gives you fur cloaks, backpacks, hoods (so you don't need to install those mods separately), show shoes, the snow texture on people when outdoors, and visible breath in cold areas.

w&c has a bug where npc's will go inside to avoid weather... and never come back outdoors when it clears up because that check is missing. that includes followers.

I suppose they could make the mod more tracking orientated and less intensive by adding an option for long-lasting footprints for NPCs farther from the player, but only one print per every couple dozen steps. It wouldn't be realistic for immersion, but it would be realistic gameplay/performance-wise.

The best thing about the footprint mode is using it for hunting. Made it really easy trying to chase your prey.

The thing about Footprints is it uses a cloaking script but thanks to Powerofthree it can now use SPID and not bog down and bottleneck your SKSE. For Wet&Cold get the gear-only plugin that uses SPID and get R.A.S.S for the snow effects. Get Snowy also uses cloaks, they are bad always pulsing and using precious PC/SKSE power for something to occur under some circumstance.

Those 'simple' mods really adds atmosphere to Skyrim. And more .esp's. It would be nice if it is possible to successfully merge them into one .esp.

Sam Uchiha TES5Edit is perfect for that job. But personally I'd prefer Merge Plugins Standalone myself though. The problem here however is not which program I should use but rather which mods are smart to merge and which ones are not. Obviously merging patches with the master .esp is a bad idea and merging weapons and armor mods are fine and well (as long as they won't be patched and placed in a certain museum mod which would ask for the master pugin) so these basics I understand but well let's face it: Skyrim is not very forgiving when it comes to screwing up load orders and merging the wrong plugins so caution is required.

Nice selection. But you should have warned ppl more about how script heavy especially footprints and splash of rain are. those two broke my playthrough more than once even though they are great mods. definitely depends on how many script heavy mods you are using already.

You should have thrown in the Better Claws mod. For Argonians and Khajiit, it makes you have actual pointed claws instead of just fat fingernails. It made such a huge difference in my playthrough and it looks badass when I cast spells.

with the footprints mod, i came across an empty giant cap, i scoured the area and cheekily grabbed the loot with no hassle, but i noticed the footprints and followed them, i soon found a dead giant, 2 dead mammoths and a whole gaggle of thalmor corpses, one giant was alive with two thirds of its health left, so i finished it off.

I used this method to download the "another Sleep Mod" from Steam (as the alternate bc the removed one was buggy?) Then I copied the esp and BSA file to a new folder and zipped that up with 7z. Now I have the mod as a zip in My downloads folder. Works perfectly. Thanks Gopher

PromiserOfDeath2 my only problem is that I like to look at my character in 3rd person when he/she is absorbing a dragon's soul, I set the camera at roughly 45 degrees from direct look to the camera and then he/she starts looking at a follower or a corpse

Should be added that footprints can really bloat up your savefiles. It's such a great mod, but can reduce (by quite a large margin) the amount of other script based mods you can use while keeping the game crash free. :( Decay effect on footprints should be at the least be cut in half from it's default settings. It comes with basically no performance issues, so if you have a short mod list - it's definitely recommended, it adds a lot of immersion, but if your modlist is quite large be wary that it can singlehandedly destroy your saves.

I think that Brodual really needs to start going over the risks of the mods in question. It's bad that I have to read the comments section for twenty minutes to see in a ratio if some of the mods will break something, which has saved me from installing a large percentage of mods that Brodual shows as they're widely considered broken and buggy. Nothing alarmist, just gently touch up on the fact that the mod has caused problems for other people and be specific if it was a small or large amount. It would save me a tremendous amount of time not having to read comments to see if I should even try the mod and back up my 19GB + Skyrim install and all of my current saves every time I decide to go through installing even the smallest of mods.

Just to say, Immersive Beds gave me a bug where I couldn't use crafting interfaces. It didn't happen for a while, but afterwards, I had to uninstall it to craft even a nail.

That torchsmoke mod is a bit silly. Theres no way people would be stupid enough to use fuels that cause smoke in a torch that they are holding so close to them. Granted, they also probably wouldn't be holding the torch in front of them and ruining any night sight they had, so it isn't that big a deal at this point...

Footprints is not a "mini" mod or a mod to take as something simple that has no big effect on your game.... footprints is a mod that can destroy your game if you have lot of heavy scripted mods aside, It is pretty heavy on scripts and these scripts are active all the time. it can bring script lag issues, specially combined with heavy scripted combat mods such as "Action Combat" or "Ultimate Combat".

If you're a user who's worried about it overwriting actual game files then fortunately the steam system is set up so you can uninstall perfectly by unsubbing to the mod - in other words it's not harmful if that's your only problem with the steam workshop version.

Of all the mods you download, do you come across bugs & glitches? I cant seem to get out of 3rd person into 1st person view. I’ve had Dawnguard for years, & this problem started since yesterday, when i was trying to solve yet another issuse, (where i’d get 35 fps, & game crashing when i Shout, or cant leave the island of Wyrmsthooth, via the ship, so had to console command to Whiterun & had to pay the price of losing my attractive looking Volkihar dead thrall’d vampire) which is now solved. Is there any why to disable 3rd person in Skyrimprefs? I cant land my shots in 3rd person

It gives a little extra layer of depth to what you do, and reminds me of games like Monster Hunter and Dragon's Dogma were you'd have to perform similar interactions with the world. It also makes playing a thief character a lot more challenging and fun.
