Personally, Auriel's bow is always THE ultimate bow for me. I feel like you can improve any bow to the point the difference between individual bows barely matter (which I concede is not what this video is about). So the decision is always the look and coolness factor. Auriel's Bow is hands down, unequivocally the most unique and legendary bow. Lore-wise, of course, but even outside of the fact that it is a manifestation of a major deity's will, all the long quests leading up to it, and the way game builds up its godlike status, as well as being granted one of the most unique and spectacular special abilities. There is just no competition in my mind.

I find the bound bow to be particularly OP, the only problem would be you need to upgrade magicka more until you get 200, then you can add Mystic Binding and Archery Sneak ×3 and the Archery Tree and you have one hell of a bow

You left out a few key features of the Bound Bow, in that it gains damage bonus from levels of Archery and Conjuration, and that the bound weapon perks let you auto fill soul gems and a few other useful things that a normal bow could never do.

I made a build that was a conjuration/sneak vampire archer. It was honestly one of the most fun and one of the best builds I have ever tried. The conjured bow with the damage boost from mystic binding and it's incredibly fast fire rate, due to it weight nothing, makes it by far the best bow in the game. Of course I added quiet casting for sneaking and the necromage perk which made the bound bow last for an extremely long time. It's also very versatile. If you feel like sneaking you can, if you feel like running around and going all Robin Hood on their ass you can do that too.

Having played through Skyrim various times, I have found the bound bow with the archery tree perked out and with enchantments on armor to be as good as any other. Plus you do not have to worry about arrows, just fire away and it does have a fast fire rate. As for the quiet casting perk, I cannot tell that it makes any difference at all if you have it or not. I can be right next to an enemy and recast the bow and they never hear it. Nor do they see the flashing blue light. Conjuration archer is lots of fun and bad news if done right, a fully perked out Conjuration build with two Dremora Lords or two storm thralls is unbeatable. My bound bow with all perks, and enchants on armor one shots dragons. Cheers!

Duncan Panthera I used it for a little while and it looked super cool, problem was at higher levels the enemies are able to detect you a lot easier with heavy armor on. I forgot the exact armor I used, but when I pull up my character I'll comment on here : D

*FOR ANYONE WANTING A GOOD BOW FOR ENCHANTING:* If anyone is looking for a good bow they can enchant and/or smith, then look no further than the *Stalhrim Bow*. The great thing about it is that its 25% bonus frost magic enchantment works in conjunction with *Chaos damage*. Chaos damage, for the uninformed, is a rare enchantment that is available to those who have the Dragonborn DLC and is a rare enchantment that *can only be found on NORDIC or STALHRIM weapons*. It has a 50% chance to deal frost, shock, or fire damage for every strike, and it is possible to basically deal damage with all elements at once. The interesting thing, however, is the way that Chaos damage is programmed into the game causes it to treat any boost to a single type of elemental damage rather as a boost to *all elemental damages* it can cause. This means that in the *destruction and enchanting skill tree*, you can boost the effective damage of all elemental damages of your enchantments and the Chaos damage will rise to ridiculous amounts. And since the Stalhrim weapons' boost is multiplicative, you can reach around 300+ damage (i believe) with any of those 3 elements, and sometimes with all of them at the same time. This works also with all other Stalhrim weapons, so yeah, they have the potential to be legitimately the best weapons in the game.

@@bluehornet197 then you misread my comment- my friend. The Stahlrim bow with the Chaos enchantment will deal 300+ for EVERY damage effect triggered. If all trigger at once then you get about 1000 damage. :D And thats WITHOUT the bow's base damage being factored in. ;) And you also slow the target and reduce its stamina, its mana, and drain some of its hp because of how frost, shock and fire damage work. ;) Let me remind you that it's a 50% chance for any of these effects to trigger and it is just absolutely OP. Factor in the fact that you can multiply your damage values with sneak attack by a LOT, and suddenly you are one-shotting even the most OP enemies. You wont get similar damage models unless you use mods to change game balance or you use exploits for potions that boost crafting skills.

A sound early game bow (if you don't want to steal the elven bow from the companions) is the supple ancient Nord bow. They are random drops from skeletons and draugr. Unfortunately a game bug prevents upgrading this bow at a smithy but with a base damage of 14 it's a pretty sound early game choice given that it's relatively easy to get.

@RIP but he just mentioned that the dwarven crossbow is rank 1 BECAUSE you can enchant it on top of the 50% armor ignore (which is almost useless by the way. mages, light armor offers almost no protection and high armor targets get staggered from the crossbow or any other bow before they would even reach the archer. it does help for sneak attack though). for pure DPS sake Zephyr is and always will be the best bow in the game. if you carry around enough soulstones for the enchantment nightingale will always be #2 unless you count daedric and dragonbone bows with enchants (which arguably would be #1 due to insane enchantments)

Stahlrim bow with chaos damage applies the cold 25% bonus to fire and shock procs as well since it is the same enchantment. Add necromage perk and the illusion fear perk and I think that applies to all 3 procs as well.

I don't agree with your list because the Dwarwen Black Bow of Fate can be upgraded and you can make it do over 300 damage and plus if you are low on health or stamina or even magicka you can regenerate yourself AND insta-kill your enemy.

You seem to be forgetting that the enchantment on the dwarven black bow of fate is ABSORB so as well as gaining the health/stamina/magika you also take it away from the enemy. This means that the absorb magika perk maybe useful even if you yourself don't cast spells, as it can reduce the amount of magika the enemy has; reducing the spells that they can cast. The same goes for the health and stamina. So if the absorb health comes into play you will do 20 points more damage

100% sure i said ABSORB, so the points i made still stand, the enchantment does not fit the play style of an archer (maybe a bad archer, yes). Also if you do the maths base damage 13, 50% chance to absorb health = 38 damage (half the time, inconsistently). I stand by the facts, Its a situation weapon. You can still use it through the whole game so long as you don't mind recharging it every 10 minutes.

ESO It's that you pretty much say that the absorb magika is pretty much useless as an archer won't be casting spells. This is not true as when you absorb the 25 magika you take it away from the person you hit meaning that if they are a mage then you can stop then from being able to cast spells all together making them unable to damage you from a distance. The same goes for stamina as you can reduce a warrior's stamina to the point where they can't sprint towards you or power attack, also the absorption effect is useful as on average you will gain 12.5 stamina for every arrow that lands. This means that you will be able to continuously use the "eagle eye" & "steady hand" perks almost continuously allowing you to be more accurate and therefore do more damage. I understand what you mean about the stamina and magika absorption not being as useful as people think, it's not as useless as you make it out to seem in this video. And the need for recharging can be completely eliminated by fortifying destruction by 100%. However as you point out in the video you probably won't want to be using spells as bow take both hands.

Whats the point, they are wearing mage robes, even on master difficulty a few sneak attacks and their dead, before they even get a chance to cast a spell, imo magika reduction weapons are not very useful, never have i said to myself "thank god i stole his magika or he would of killed me" same goes for stamina (i did mention in the video its useful in expert plus, where you need to kite and run around more (see lets play for demonstration). But still might as well pick a high damage bow, it has more uses, especially with sneak attacks. But at no point did i say it was useless, just situational, its great for boss fights for sure. It's not a bad bow, it's just not the best, that is what i am justifying here and in the video.

thedeerhunter98 If you actually play a stealthy archer you'd soon come to a realization that it shouldn't take you more than a couple of hits to kill an enemy. The Dwarven Black Bow of Fate has a 50% chance to absorb each stat. Lets say you are lucky and you get absorb magicka every single hit. Against mages, 2 hits would take away 50 magicka. Since mages rely only on flesh spells for armor rating, it should generally take no more than 3 shots to kill a mage. By the 3rd hit, the mage is dead. So what good is there in taking away his magicka? In the case that you use a highly damaging bow, you might have just killed the mage in 1 shot with sneak since he won't even have his flesh spells up. It is as ESO said, the bow is situational and useful only when it is a prolonged fight. Well, it is either that, or you choose to play a non stealthy archer and you would prefer to run charging into the enemy with a bow, which doesn't make much sense to me.

Same dude i feel like they arent as stealthy seeng as they are louder/takes longer to reload and the ammo isnt as common at all so thats a huge downside because the only way to get bolts aside from looting them from fort dawngaurd ( they dont respawn after the first loot) or from dawngaurd corpses is to buy them from the smith lady at fort dawngaurd or to snatch them while the farmer that came with you when you first go to join the dawngaurd is shooting at the boxes after he first gets his crossbow ( he doesnt do that anymore after the first quest is completed )

This video was awesome and very helpful =) When it came to doing assassinations for the DB I had to forgo my daggers and use bows (I had a glass bow at the time). I was so shocked about how easily bows+arrows took out my targets (without collecting bounty). This was important b.c.most of my items are stolen and I don't want to have any of it confiscated and storing and recollecting it is a pain. Lol nothing better than sitting at a vantage point and quietly taking out the enemy camp =) Note to self- work on smithing and enchanting.

+ESO i have to admit you got me wanting to play skyrim again I have been playing fallout 3 for the past few weeks now already finished two story endings as well its a really good and fun game I will admit to that it only takes a long time to get a good set of power armour. And I honestly perfer the bow since I have the dragon bone bow and its silent as well so I don't have to be like an iron giant and just stomp my way through a dungeon. I still love the crossbow as well since it ignores armour and its just a beast when it comes to damage.

This was a fun list. I like most of these but always end up just using a maxed out dragonbone bow with enchantments, and archery enchantments on equipment. It makes short work of most things especially if you're creeping, and thats good enough for me.

The Glass Bow of the Stag Prince isn't worth it at all. It actually *doesn't* increase the damage for every 20 animals killed, it increases health and stamina by 5 points for every 20 animals killed, up to a maximum of 25. So after going through the trouble of getting the bow THEN killing 100 animals, all you get is 25 more points in health and stamina and a bow with only decent damage.

it is easy to get early game, and helps as a bonus early on, when you are hunting anyway to sell for money, or if you are like me, and collect your own materials for crafting. it is a little perk, nothing really special.

+Naveen Jolly The power of a weapon has a few basic factors. one is the base damage and the others or modifiers of the base damage such as smithing improvement, fortify archery enchantments, and most important, the level of the skill. so if he has a dragon bone bow and level 100 archery it will be much more powerful than a dragon bone bow with the base archery level.

Bound bow is my personal favourite, I use it on legendary. It makes up for not being able to be improved with extra perks, since it can be added onto by conjuring and archery tree perks.

I don't ever worry about damage after enchanting on my boots the archery skill needed to make it an instant kill every time. That way I can pick any bow I want for aesthetic purposes, still take out everyone (including dragons), and the enchantment is for effect. My favorite enchantment is the one taken from the giant's weapon that throws people all over the place. Its a blast to watch at work lol

If your planning on being a sneaky character then look for a bow with high damage per shot to rack up better bonuses from sneak but if you want to deal damage without sneaking use the one with most damage per second
