Anyone else notice that Peryite is usually the "nicest" of the princes in his quests? In Oblivion, Peryite sends you to rescue a bunch of idiots who tried to summon him. So I wrote down my thoughts before watching. But going to post this after watching. Azura - Honestly couldn't remember her quest in Oblivion. the black star in Skyrim is a much better quest than killing yet another vampire in Oblivion. Sk1 Boethiah - Oblivion without question. My favorite Daedric quest in the game & full of amazing loot. I also love Skyrim's but Oblivion wins here. Ob1 Clavicus Vile - Ovlivion. Best weapon in the game & a good fight. Barbas annoys me in Skyrim since I often go their early to do the Hircine quest. Ob2 Hermaeus Mora - Both quests are a pain but Skyrim edges out purely because of Septimus Signus & Mora's voice acting. Sk2 Hircine - Ah my favorite prince & the one most of my characters worship. ESO included. Skyrim. Much better than just killing a unicorn. Sk3 Malacath - Skyrim. Much more memorable & enjoyable than "THESE ARE MY OGRES"! Followed by a normal dungeon. Sk4 Mephala - Hard one. Both are great. But I think Skyrim's wins by just a hair due to how the blade works in Skyrim. Making it a perfect weapon for an evil Dragonborn. Sk5 Meridia - "A NEW HAND TUTCHES THE BEACON"! Oblivion. I've grown very tired of her in Skyrim. Ob3 Molag Bal - Oblivion by a mile. Breaking an honorable man is far more fitting than saving a cultist from one of the most common enemies in Skyrim. Ob4 Namira - Oblivion's always made me laugh. But Skyrim's is truly evil feeling & I love doing Wood Elf cambial runs. Sk6 Peryite - By the divines Skyrim. Oblivion's quest is one of my most hated in the game. So long & so boring. Sk7 Sanguine - Oblivion. Skyrim's one is funny first time but after that is just a chore. Ob5 Sheogorath - Oblivion. Skyrim's quest is just a big reference bundle to Oblivion & is quite repetitive after the first time. Oblivion's is very entertaining. Ob6 Vaermina - Kind of dislike both. But I'm going to give it to Oblivion purly because of that one area with a bunch of hanging corpses & void. Gave me nightmares for a week. Very memorable. Ob7 Which leaves us with Oblivion 7 & Skyrim 7......hu....well....

I'd actually give Oblivion Namria and Sanguine over Skyrim's versions. The twisting nightmare world of Namira's realm corrupting the tower is truly unique and requires more innovation. And as for Sanguine, I mean aside from the spectacle of it - Countess Alessia Caro being rendered naked in-front of party guests is a reward unto itself - especially if you have sneaked around the castle before and know what she's like behind closed doors. I also have given Oblivion Nocturnal if we were allowed to count her -The Thieves Guild of Skyrim is just awful... who sells their soul to a Daedra to be "allowed" to get their stuff back for them? Also why would a guild of thieves all give their money to someone else to hold onto and not bother to check on it for TWENTY FIVE YEARS?! AND WHY WOULD SAY PERSON HANG AROUND?! So yeah, aside from the fact Noctural in Oblivion actually has you act like a thief instead of a dungeon raider, not getting the pretzel logic of that stupid quest line is it's own reward.

Tighter questing, more “alive” npc's, more fluid leveling systems and combat mechanics. This video was a great reminder that nostalgia can make things way better than reality.

Oblivion is the best elder scrolls game, because there are still rpg elements compared to Skyrim where it does not matter which race or gender you choose. Many roleplaying elder scrolls fans dont like the fact that in Skyrim you can become the best warrior in the companions and archmage at the college of winterhold. The only downside is if you become bored of the same class and skills, you cant make the switch with perks to change it like in Skyrim.
@obijuanquenobi19114 жыл бұрын

i think you missed my favourite part of malacath's quest in oblivion here because after you beat the quest you can go back to the farm and see the ogres rose up against the farm owner and enslaved him which is funny although i didn't know ogres could demonstrate such agency and would have expected them to just murder the farm owner

I think both games have their pros and cons. The quests themselves are more creative in Oblivion, but the way you discover the quests are more interesting in Skyrim since they all seem to be out of natural consequence as opposed to visiting a shrine.

The deadra in skyrim just felt like more of a force in the world; like they were lurking around every corner, influencing the world. I dispise the molag bal quest in skyrim. I just dont like how they pull you into it, and you have no option for denying bal or going against him in any way. The other Daedric quests where they do that in skyrim, you either have options or it doesn't require you to be tremendously wicked. And on top of that you are asked by a vigilant of stendarr, implying it may be another good quest. I know some people may disagree, but part of me honestly thinks the devs just assumed the player wants to be evil.

The Daedric quests are really the only major area where Skyrim clearly outstrips Oblivion imo. You touched on this at the end, but the fact that they felt like organic quests seeded into the world - sometimes engulfing you before you even knew there was a major quest involved - made a huge difference. Oblivion's (and I say this as another person for whom Oblivion is my first and greatest TES love) were very formulaic in how they came to you - you went to a place, provided an offering, did a thing, and came back to the place, it was like an in-universe giant "QUEST HERE" floating exclamation point.

I've played Skyrim, Morrowind, and a good chunk of Oblivion this year, and honestly, Skyrim's is the best in my opinion. I know that people are quick to complain about Skyrim's flaws, but it does great things like how it handles Daedric quests, trying to make them fit with their princess as much as possible, to the point of trying to be selective of who would have a shrine and who wouldn't, and where. I mean, lets be honest, Namira would loath to have a shrine on the surface for all to see, so it makes sense for Skyrim to have it hidden in a crypt.

I really feel like the makers of Skyrim went really hard into quality Daedric Quests, character interactions, and a living world to make up for Oblivion's copy paste environments and goofy character interactions. However, Oblivion definitely had better guilds. Better stories, ranks, characters, and rewards than anything in Skyrim. Here's to hoping elder scrolls 6 finds a way to balance both approaches.

I preferred all of Oblivions. You had to find the shrines and make the choice to start the quests. In Skyrim the majority of them were forced upon you. Any quest that starts up like that by default is not a better quest. I just love going to Markarth and having to go the long way to get to the keep just to avoid being forcegreet by the priest. That was sarcasm, I despise that.

In Oblivion, the daedra quests seemed to be really cool, but only in contrast to the more boring quests you’d find in Oblivion (not knocking the game, it’s one of my favorites from Bethesda and my introduction into elder scrolls). Skyrim, in my opinion, did a much better job of actually capturing the identity of each Daedric Prince. They also felt a lot more natural. There was something so weird about just stumbling upon a cult to Malacath or Vermina. At least in Skyrim, it felt like something almost led you to an area rather than you literally searching out Daedric shrines. Like the Molag Bal quest introduction was beyond perfect. You think you’re helping out this random Vigilant of Stendarr clear out a house full of Daedra. If you haven’t played the game before, you might even think you are starting a whole new Daedra hunter questline by joining the Vigilants. Then suddenly Molag Bal starts talking, literally shaking the house like a demonic force of some kind. Then forcing you to kill the man who asked for your help.

Also what's up with Markarth having all these crazy/sinister people under the surface? Like more than usual in other cities.

The reason for difference between Oblivion ans Skyrim Sheogorath is that they are two different version of Prince of Madness, since Skyrim one is Hero of Kvatch. So it make more sense that his quest in Skyrim would be to help someone to be cured of madness rather than spread it like the other one did in Oblivion.
@Galimeer54 жыл бұрын
Imagine if TES6 had entire questlines for Daedric artifacts instead of just single quests. Or even a single questline that pulls every daedric prince into the story and you have to choose one of them to side with, getting their artifact by the end.
@darthbigred223 жыл бұрын
I don't want that. One thing I appreciate about Skyrim was it had a really long playthrough. It was unrealistic in world that say you can be DB and TG while also be a Companion BUT it didn't make you make a new character for that either. There is part of me that really enjoys how confusing the Daedra and Aedra must have it when the Hero of Kvatch or Dragonborn die since almost everyone has a claim to him. But I'd rather have that than need to make a new character and slog through everything again just to get Azura's Star. Plus almost all the Daedra are evil so who reallly wants to quest that long for any of them? Now that said I wouldn't mind a flip side to every faction. Say I go Fighter's guild so that means no DB or TG but instead you exterminate them. You join the cult of the 9s or you pick a daedra but either way you attack the other members and defile their religious artifacts. My biggest bitch in Skyrim is smithing is so good most of the daedric artifacts are just that artifacts. They should scale up with the player so that when you get them you don't just stick them in a display case. That and a lot of them just suck anyways. Oh thanks for this mace i don't use because i don't use maces Molag.
