Some of the Quests I attempted and managed to complete but I didn't know what "Fortify" was at the time and a number of other things. That put me behind a lot. Console Commands were heavily exploited and God Mode was nearly permanently on. I'm 28 now. I do love the memories I have, as I spent a lot of time on the game however its my least favourite out of the 3 I've played. The three being Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. I seem to remember reading about a serverroom/office fire at BGS that happened some years back. I remember getting OG morrowind without the expansions... was blow away at the depth of character creation... and a physical map was included! Then most npcs had voice acting lines! Tres cool! You really had to get immersed into it to just find places... morrowind set the bar for so much... I still miss the magic system. But alas, I've been through over half a dozen morrowind dedicated Xboxs and I'm not a PC guy so my cliff racer slaying days are over... I'll be chilling with jiub in my giant mushroom tower city. Oh yeah did you know you can grow a mushroom tower in morrowind? You can build a city around it too, and you can literally pile gold pieces individually into a pile and throw some enchanted equipment on it and fill the antechamber of your mushroom tower, turning into a unique money vault, like scrooge mcduck. No game since has ever come close to shit you can pull in morrowind.

Alot of people hated having to read but alot of the lore that older players know about elder scrolls is because we had to read all those articles and notes! It was truely a second life in it's time. Iv played the first 2 elder scrolls as well. The second one was a bit confusing to play but it also required alot of strategy and just basic knowledge to find your way.

The second I fell in love with Morrowind was when I was being sent out of town and instead of a quest marker I got directions And those directions could be easily followed with real world logic So I prepared for my journey and thought maybe I should get some cure disease and blight potions I slapped down a mark so I could recall to my quest giver later I then went to venture out but stopped and thought for a second and realized I was thinking exactly as my character would be in this world I was immersed before the quest had truly even begun Edit: the way this game puts you in the right mindset is done so immaculately Graphics and all be damned I played on the Xbox one because I don't have a PC yet

I think the absence of Quest Markers was one of "Morrowind's" worst features, but in my opinion, it does not in any way detract from what is and continues to be the most immersive game I have ever played. I never played any other ES game before I tried "Morrowind" this very year, and I am having the absolute time of my life. My favorite part is all of the READING. I slurp up every single point of dialog and have read every book I have opened. I cannot remember a more immersive game, and the best part is that this dedication to immersion has continued in every ES game succeeding "Morrowind".

@@hyperboreanarchives7299 I definitely get where you're coming from on the lore/quest journal point, I do think at times it can be oversimplified. In terms of actual gameplay and game mechanics though, Skyrim is far more advanced and detailed than Morrowind and Oblivion. Just because Skyrim includes things like map markers and a HUD w/ compass, doesn't mean that it's making the game easier. If you don't want to look at the map or have an on-screen compass, then you can make it so that neither of them are toggled/utilized. @@joecarlson699 More advanced and detailed? Certainly not. You mean more streamlined, flashy and (admittedly in terms of combat) fluid. That's what I think the "Sky Babies" BS and MW Simps keep forgetting, on both sides of the aisle. Let me give a comparison. There are four "Shrek" movies. The third is widely considered the worst, and the second the best. I personally loved the third one more than the first and the fourth, but the second was my favorite. -but here's the thing. There is no such thing as a bad "Shrek" movie. Every movie is above par from the average and is a high quality production. Fans of the series are so spoiled and exposed to such quality content that their idea of "bad" is gruesomely warped. The same goes here. Bethesda has put out a series of games so good that even the "worst" of them is still a fantastic game. "Morrowind" fans bashing "Skyrim" forget that they are so spoiled by Bethesda that their idea of a "bad game" is still, compared to other games, a fantastic piece of work.

If you are looking for a good guide for beginners in Morrowind This one is a good one. Is called Hitchhiker's guide to Morrowind. It has a lot of good information but she doesn't bore you with a lot of math when she explains things. Honestly one of the best Morrowind guides I have ever seen. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gaOVY2h-jLGKmdU . As far as the fatigue thing. Is good to remember that in Morrowind fatigue effects almost everything. Even things you wouldn't think would be. Sometimes a restore fatigue potion is just as important as a healing potion is. It isn't like Skyrim or even Oblivion where you can just ignore it. Would also recommend that new players stick to their class when it comes to weapons. That free dagger is a trap if your character isn't built for short blade. The starter village has free weapons of various types laying around for the taking or if you return the ring to Fargoth the shop in town will give you a good discount on the weapons and armor of your choice. So if your character isn't built for a weapon type don't use that weapon type unless you have paid a trainer and learned how to use it. While I am talking about Trainers, unlike Skyrim in Morrowind you are not limited on training a certain amount per level. So providing you wanted to invest the gold into it. There is no reason in theory you couldn't master every weapon or skill in the game even if the initial character isn't built for it.

I remember first playing this game back in 2005, man what a steep learning curve that was :D I think it took to me about 4 new games till I finally made a character that doesn't die when two scribs attack him. But it opened a door for me and I haven't looked back since and to this day Morrowind is my favorite Elder Scrolls game. So pumped for Skywind :D

Funny that Morrowind was considered back in 2002 ahead of its time. Compared to today of course it looks like a GIF almost. One thing it still has though that other titles never did, its still considered the best story driven and best RPG. Oblivion and Skyrim were to much hack-n-slash. Morrowind actually expected to roleplay your character otherwise the game would get very tedious after awhile. How times of changed.😥

As a "Skyrim Zoomer" who just started playing Morrowind, I played unmodded until my first Crash in Balmora. Then I modded it with a Vanilla-Friendly mod list. Almost rage quit after the second dungeon because I kept dying to people with such worse gear than me. Read a combat quide, started actually wiping people. Almost rage quit again when trying to get to Caldera because God are you slow in Morrowind. Realized I could jump to Speedrun to places and rest to regain stamina. I plan to keep playing but the run speed is honestly my biggest complaint. If there's no fast travel then at least make me faster. I even trained up my agility and put so many levels points into speed. I tried to mod out the slow run speed, but it didn't work. I can deal with the not hitting every attack, because I actually level up those skills relatively quickly, but God almighty can someone in Balmora invent the treadmill so my agility levels can get to the point where I'm faster than a snail.

Morrowind was by far the most lived in and lore centric of the elder scrolls games. You had every race specific weapons not just types. I remember having a nord sword that looked like a demon while wearing a troll bone skull. And the variety was just wild. The world wasn't just generic either, you had completely unique cities from imperial and Nord looking to the pyramids of vivec and mushroom towers of the Dunmer wizards. Politics was immersive from the slave issue to conflict between the houses. It was just unique. I love all the games but it somewhat irritated me that a game that came out in 04 just seemed so much more lived in then the more generic backgrounds of oblivion and skyrim
