When Eternal released, I was so lost on the lore of Night Sentinels and didn't like their inclusion but after learning so much more of them, I'm glad they exist in the Doom story.

39:30 A game set with the Doom Slayer's arrival in Argent DNur...That could be the game they almost tried to give us before 2016. Sort of. The aspect of working with a squad/team (The other Sentinels) and going on raids into hell and rescue operations in the city on the planet. That MIGHT be cool if done right. But It would very hard to make a squad based combat game around the fast action of Doom Guy's combat style. He is better alone and unleashed.

11:03 a king accepting the maykr's offer to worship them may seem dumb for us. But this happened in our human history as well. It's actually a very smart move for a king. It will make the king also divine, or at least show other tribes of argenta that the maykr is the bridge to heaven (urdak) and it also means that the king is the bridge to this heaven. Because disobeying the king means disobeying the maykr, which means no entry to heaven.

Yes, thank you! I already saw the video about Paimon by now and it is very well made and informative! He is certainly a complex and fascinating entity( or it, cause they don't have a gender or form as we know it and are able to shapeshift,right!), still i wouldn't dare to invocate him unless i would have a lot off experience as a ritual and summoning mage, cause it's, or his, high rank as a great king! I have a minor issue with modern Doom lore that is rooted in the soft reboot between 2016 and Eternal. It feels like 2 different authors fighting over a project.

So there are a number of design, narrative and mechanical differences between 16 and Eternal that make me believe that after 16 did well, the series was quietly rebooted. Rhe suit design, the way it is upgraded, and the weapon are visual indicators, but the strongest proof I have is narrative. In 16 Samuel is willing to let the AI die to get back to Hell. If there is no retcon, this is very out of character as that would make Samuel a makyr and the AI his god. Would a Makyr sacrifice the Father for anything? I am convinced that 16 was ended on a cliffhanger as a potential jumping point for any possible sequel. Eternal was a full rewrite to deal with complaints about 16, and the DLC was meant to be a game after Eternal. I agree on that idea. 16 also references Doom 3 at several points.
