I always love to see ppls responses to the 777 as it makes me SO proud of my dad as my dad designed part of the 777. He dealt with their radar systems/radar dome, GPS, antennas, and communication systems. Of course like normal most of these were originally created for the US military and then modified for civilian markets.

As a 4 decade airline employee , I can say it's the most beautiful reliable aircraft. The new x series is perhaps the most impressive of all. As I get ready for retirement I hope to see my airline fly the x series before I leave. Since we were first to fly it and was integral in its design. , I'm sure it will be flown for years to come.

The 777 programme was when Boeing seemed to be a straightforward friendly and honest company. We believed in it because the people involved in its design and production programme seemed genuinely enthusiastic and believed they were making the best thing since sliced bread. And they were, and we believed them because we LIKED what we saw at Boeing. At the time Flight Sims were booming and aviation seemed to be blossoming in every way. It was a great time to be around aircraft. I want those times back.

The safety record of the 777 is pretty amazing. Only 6 hull losses, two of which can't be held against to aircraft. That is an astounding record.
@gandalfthegrey78746 жыл бұрын
Mark Small Actually, none of them can. Look it up. One was shot down by a Russian missle, as ironic as that is. Another due to a short in the wiring, another was the fault of the RR engine. And so on.
@oh19006 жыл бұрын
A short circut (EgyptAir) is a fault and should be held against the aircraft. Luckily no one was injured. The BA RR incident is also a an aircraft problem as the engine is part of the aircraft no matter if it is made by a third party. That said the 777 is still one of the safest aircraft ever made only surpassed by the A340. It is worth noting that no one has lost their lives owed to a fault related to the aircraft.

787 has had zero hull losses as far as I'm aware. Still, modern aircraft are amazing all round. They've got this pretty well down to a science - when they don't screw it up like a certain currently grounded aircraft.

Triple 7 is a massive beauty with an unusually good safety record. 1500+ made and only 5 major incidents (caused by excessive water in fuel, inexperienced pilots, one suicidal pilot and one shot down) this is impressive! Rare for the industry.

The best and safest airliner ver made. The number of flawless miles the triple 7 has rung up is unimaginable. Yes, a missile can down the aircraft, or pilot sabotage. Inattentive Pilots Hello Astana who aren’t paying any attention to speed and altitude can land short of a runway, however the crazy part of this was that the only fatalities included to passengers in the rear of the aircraft when the tail was sheared off, sadly a young Chinese woman was injured covered with fire suppressive foam and run over by an airport fire vehicle. The 777X is going to be special. Thanks Skyships great job as always, we think alike, that’s scary

If flew the 777-300ER twice on the route between Europe and Australia, for around 9 h, the other part of the route (13 h) was flown by a A350. The cabin air in the T 7 was not really good, i felt bad during both flights. The longer part of the route with the 350 was no problem, I felt perfect, the air was good, and the aircraft was only half as loud as the T 7. The seats were good on both flights (Premium eco, Singapore), but the aircraft around made a huge difference.

One pilot flew into the seawall (SF) , another straight vanished (MH), one got shot down (MH), one had an engine blow up (GE's fault), another had a leak due to maintenance failure, the BA crash w/ ice in the filters only affected RR engines, and one was lost due to a short in the wiring. None failed due to a manufacturing or boeing design defect. I'd say that's a damn fine record.

I have gotten to fly this plane by accident last week (United Boeing 777-200 not sure if it was ER or not) from SFO to HNL due to a delay leaving BUF. I was impressed with this plane (it was also my first widebody plane I ever been on).

I'm not a really big fan of this plane because it helped kill off the 747. I don't hate it though, it looks so damn sexy with those GE-90s.

And the 787 with defeating the "Hub and Spoke" method of travel
@Racko.6 жыл бұрын
The fuel prices are too blame, the 777 showed the aviation industry that 4 engine planes will be useless. The 787 is also showing that there won’t be large planes needed if you want to fly farther in low capacity and efficiently. Majority airlines are moving away from the hub and spoke model. Point to point is far economical
@DavidLemmo6 жыл бұрын
Hub and spoke wasn't killed by an aircraft, it was killed because passengers prefer direct flights, and shord flights are the worst thing for the longevity of pressurized aircraft.

Work for a major u.s. carrier for over 40 years, seen many aircraft, variants, size, not only has the industry changed , the 777 has a place everywhere , worldwide, any route. I will say I was shocked at some routes my airline flew with the 777. It’s a roomy, comfortable airplane for long haul. Very popular with our customers, crew rests are much better than old. Most u.s. carriers seem to hold on to their airplanes longer than most, so united, delta and American do not have plans anytime soon to replace the current fleet. However in a few years they will have to and I’m sure they will choose 777x and ge9x. Makes all the sense in the world. Meanwhile Boeing hopefully will be pouring out the 797. Favorite variant is the -300. A most perfect aircraft for everyone and in my opinion large enough.

The best airliner of the XX century is the 747. Period.
@jimmygee32195 жыл бұрын
Cronoviajero yeah she’s the undisputed queen. But the MD-11 and L-1011 shouldn’t be discounted either. Two great planes introduced at the wrong times (I specified MD-11 over DC-10 on purpose)
@bobbypaluga43465 жыл бұрын
The 747 dramatically changed all the rules, once the Queen was in wide use fares dropped allowing most anyone the ability to fly. The 777 brought the multi engine mode being capable of very long flights on just two power plants. The Airbus 340 was cooked once the 777 was in use. Given the billions of miles the 777 has flown its safety record is impressive. The Asians crash at SFO was one of the worst cases of pilot incompetence I’ve ever come across. Three senior pilots in the cockpit, not one was monitoring the speed, altitude or sink rate. No one could confirm whether the auto pilot was on or off, they assumed it was on. The Eastern Airlines crash in the Everglades is similar three pilots no one checked the altitude, they were completely engrossed in a defective landing gear light.

The A380 is white elephant, The A340 got killed off, a330neos and a350 are getting smashed by the Dreamliner and finally the a350 has being outsold by the 777. Only the -900 is the Hot cake😎 Airbus should focus more in their a320NEO Boeing is a widebody and true long haul dominator
@Racko.6 жыл бұрын
Suicidal in Cleveland The A380 is a failure LOL if you can’t admit it don’t reply to me, the a330neo sales are poor and the a350-900 is their actual Bright Light, you are an idiot if you think they are doing better than Boeing there. Oh well carry on...
@DavidLemmo6 жыл бұрын
The 787 only outsells the A350 and A330NEO because it's built on the cheap, and was developed for sale instead of flight. If the 787 was actually designed and built as a proper Boeing, it probably wouldn't have beaten the competition to market and not have outpriced the competition. The 787 is in concept a wonderful airplane, but Boeing screwed it up royally when they put too much into effort marketability over flight safety.
@polduseri9096 жыл бұрын
David Lemmo At this point in time, the only issue that concerns B787 customers are the RR engines they selected. Hope RR will fix the mess to see more Dreamliners in the sky.
@DavidLemmo6 жыл бұрын
The Dreamliner is still produced in South Carolina, where labor laws favor company over labor, by nonunion workers, who are less experienced and paid less than their counterparts in Everett. Also, Boeing never replaced the unsafe battery that caused the fleet to be grounded early on, they just entombed it in a steel box.

Interesting post, Van Romondt. Liked. This is a simple semantics issue, where the set of criteria on which "best" is based was not established. Should "best" be predicated on aeronautical achievements, commercial prowess, airframe versatility, longevity of service, some combination of these things, or something else entirely? Which was the "best" spyplane, for instance, the U-2 or the SR-71? Well, that depends, but I know which one I'm voting for!
@Ipuffyy6 жыл бұрын
As an airplane and what it did, the concorde would take you to NYC in 3 hours in luxury while the 777 would take 7-8 hours. Make your choice, either way I like the 777 but prefer the A330 for being more quiet, and more stable during turbulence. (Flown both, my opinion)
