Agree! Tuffers was a fine spinner. He put plenty of revs on it and has had some big performances. He's like for like with Swann in those aspects.

@@markpalmer7215 He's one bowler I wish I really could have seen. I was only 4 when he retired so didn't really capture my imagination as a kid. I can't recollect anything. It's only in later years with interviews, documentaries and books i can appreciate his talents, skill and genius but as i said, I can't pick players i never really saw (hence why Gooch only makes the bench in my era for a similar reason.) It's one of the joys of sport. The myths, legends, heroics of different era's lost to time and memory, replaced by new.

Sam Kershaw ah I misinterpreted your post as you had started watching cricket in 87. I only really started watching cricket seriously in 1990, and although not at peak powers Marshall was still a top bowler in 91 when WI toured England. Such a clever bowler, pace, Seam & swing....such a shame he is no longer with us.

I'm sorry but there is no way, given the spirit of what this video is about, is Nasser allowed to have Anderson, Botham and Gower. I'd even argue Anderson wouldn't get into a Michael Vaughan team. Nasser needs to pick players who were at their best mid 90's to early 2000's.

I’ve been watching cricket since 89/90 so my team based on who I’ve seen “live” is: 1. Gooch 2. Cook 3. Trott 4. KP 5. Thorpe 6. Stokes 7. Stewart 8. Swann 9. Gough 10. Broad 11. Anderson. On a bouncy wicket may swap Broad for Harmison. Stokes/Freddie was a tough call, but Ben just shaded it Root vying with Thorpe for #5, but had to pick Trott...not flashy but reliable and hasn’t been replaced yet....

My team: Gooch Cook Root Pietersen Thorpe Flintoff Stokes Botham Bairstow Broad Moeen Obviously I'd switch the order around to keep a left-hand/right-hand combination, as far as possible. I'd choose Broad ahead of Anderson because of his better batting. Everyone in my team has scored a century in tests.

Absolutely agree. Tuffers spun the ball hard and could get you those big 5/6 wicket hauls on the last day of a test match. His fielding and batting were a minus 5 though 😀

@@jamesleslie6830 I do too!! Richie Benaud made the point at the time that all 3 tests that England won in 1981 the tail enders made all the difference batting wise as well as their bowling! Brearley (to me) a far better captain than Vaughan, Boycott/Gooch not as dynamic as Strauss/Trescothick but very dependable. Knott/Taylor far better than Jones and Botham shades Flintoff. Emburey much better than Giles (a far better all round cricketer) and in the seam bowling Botham/Willis one of the best combinations for England in the last 50 years.
