Very few black families in inner city Middlesbrough in the 1950s. One of my closest friends lived near the family at that time, and he confirms the youngsters especially had a pretty difficult upbringing, though both boys were liked at school and outside of it. Chris has succeeded when many wouldn't have; and he's done it without it having been at the expense of others. He can hold his head high 👏🏻 Wishing him peace and happiness in his retirement, and wishing him all the best over his health worries.

Served with his brother George in the Army, George was a great guy and a good boxer. Chris started off in the Royal Navy. I think they had some hard times growing up in Middlesbrough. I get the feeling they both never forgot their roots and kept their sense of fun and humility plus they could take care and handle themselves when required. Respect.

Many many years ago i served Kammy whilst working in a pub. Kammy had recently been sacked by Bradford City. He happily talked to me for about 10-15 minutes and predicted to a tee everything that would happen to the Bantmas over the next couple of years good and bad. He came across as a complete gentleman, very knowledgeable, totally humble and philosophical about his personal experiences and as having one of the biggest hearts and love for the game of anyone i’ve ever come across in life ever.

From the very first advert introducing the premier league you feel like you've been on a footballing journey with Sky. The characters they introduced you to were along way from the oldskool boring commentary and Kammy and Jeff and all the crew made Saturday TV fun. Even if you was not a fan of football or didn't know about the ins and outs you could at least appreciate the banter. As mentioned by many here this has all been replaced for PC robots that drone on and bore you. All the best Kammy, forever legend.

The difference with Chris, is he never felt embarrassment, he just had that childlike look of innocence and surprise. Such a legend in English football broadcasting, a man with unmatched passion and love for the game - something way more important than getting names right or using the best adjective. To be honest, the Tottenham Beavers should be their name, sounds better than Hotspurs any day...

What a legend! The Van Den Borre red card confusion never ceases to be hilarious! Kammy's reaction of "I saw him go off, but i thought they were bringing on a sub!" takes it beyond briiliantly funny to absolute genius! Chris is such a nice guy and properly funny. Sky won't be the same without him.
