It is a MYTH that Jose burns his players out. At Inter and Porto, he left because he got offers from bigger clubs. At Chelsea and Madrid, he lasted LONGER than most managers last at those clubs. Chelsea and Madrid have a culture of player power, and all of their managers get sacked.

Not only has he turned Firmino into a world class striker he picked up Salah which was an amazing decision considering everything he's brought to the team. Dan Venables as does every other big/great manager ( or team ) eg. United spend 90m on Lukaku & 90m on Pogba ( 180m ), PSG spend 198m on Neymar & 160m on Mbappe ( 358m ), Barcelona spend 110m on Dembele & 140m on Coutinho ( 250m ) whereas City buy 5-6 players for some of those amounts, Ederson 34m, Danilo 26m, Bernado 42m, Sane 35m, Jesus 27m cost a combined ( 164m ) notice Guardiola doesn't like to exceed certain amounts for players he buys young talent and tries not to breach the 60m mark I could add Walker & Mendy it would rise to ( 264m ) still around the same amount as all those clubs mentioned...anyone who follows Football knows all teams who win TITLES spend money ( with the rare exception of a team like Leicester City ) and spending huge amounts doesn't guarantee TITLES ask United since Sir Alex left how much have United spent they still haven't won the League...so please back that comment up with more substance because it is vague...

Wenger. All the other managers need to spend hundreds of millions and manage the best teams in the league and then they might win. Wenger been getting top 4 for the last ten years with bottom of the table players, against competition with unlimited bank accounts. And that's not even talking about what he's done for Arsenal FC and English football as a whole.

If we're talking about what they did outside England then Jose won the ucl with porto with a net spend of minus 5 million. He took over them in January 2002 with them 5th in the league, and considering Portuguese football has usually been dominated by Porto, Benfica and Sporting, coming into the halfway point 5th in the league would be considered a disaster

Trophies won in last 4 seasons: City - 3 (includes 2 Mickey Mouse Cups) Chelsea - 3 (1 Mickey Mouse Cup) United - 3 (2 Mickey Mouse Cups) Arsenal - 3 Liverpool - 0 Spurs - 0 I won't fault Wenger much though some of his decision making is questionable & very stubborn at times . But that I can say for Klopp, Mou, Pep & other managers too. Wenger's doing a great job given the funds, though he’s past his prime. Even Huddersfield had spent more than Arsenal in summer. All the clubs barring Spurs (I guess) have spent way more than Arsenal in last decade or so. Wenger’s net spent was less than 10 million during stadium debt years, still finished consistently in top 4. United, Chelsea & City have literally been buying the league since Roman came in.
@UltimateFeudEnterprise6 жыл бұрын
Rohit Sharma United have earnt the money they spent, city and Chelsea didn’t, that’s the difference, also the europa league isn’t a Micky mouse cup. It’s a long difficult road. With teams you’ve never faced before. Liverpool went to the final and lost, yet they are a good team. Funny that isn’t it.
@ROHIT216119916 жыл бұрын
The Unknown Agree with you. United’s spend is out of question as they generate massive revenue. But there was a right balance of academy youth & foreign talent before Roman came in. Currently even United have strayed away from their philosophy of playing positive football & bought in a cheque book manager for short term success. About Europa League not being a Mickey Mouse Cup, even League Cup is a good trophy to win for that matter. But I don’t really see people in general appreciating these titles so much, especially if you are a “so called big 6 club”. But for other lesser clubs, it can be a massive achievement.
@UltimateFeudEnterprise6 жыл бұрын
Rohit Sharma Agreed, he is a chequebook manager but he is still keeping that youth coming through, maybe not fast as van gaal but he is doing it, he does spend but I think United have earnt that right to spend after what they have accomplished. I actually quite liked the Europa league, sure it was slightly lower teams, some even below average but it was no walk in the park, a lot of those teams played their heart out to try and beat us and some came close to knocking us out. It was a good challenge and it’s a good trophy to have. Obviously i prefer the champions league but if not that then I’d never say no to the europa

Guardiola and Wenger always aim to play the beautiful game. They prefer an attacking spectacle for full entertainment value, rather than adopt the negative approach favoured by the likes of Mourinho and Conte. Their game is based entirely on anticipation and destruction; they cannot and will not create, avoid risks like the plague and instinctively take the easy way out. Their victories in big games are based on smash and grab, not taking the game to the opponent. With that tactic, it´s merely about muscle, stamina and height; it also involves using every dirty trick in the book. From relentless and unpunished fowling, constant diving for penalties and cards for the opposition, surrounding the referee, wasting time and doing everything to stop the game instead of playing it. That makes them negative and inferior. The approach by Guardiola, Wenger and a tiny selection of other managers, requires skill, technique, natural flair, patience and a positive attitude. Therefore you need elite players to execute the gameplan, as opposed to assembling eleven rugby players to play hoofball and butcher their opponents. Attacking managers have to do it the hard way, which is why there are so few of them around, while defensive bores are a dime a dozen. Mourinho´s fanboys are seduced by his press conferences rather than what passes for football in his mind. Imagine Sam Allerdyce and Roy Hodgson with punchlines in front of a fawning press corps.

What people fail to realise is that Wenger is so much more than simply a manager. The board is so money orientated it affects what the club can actually do in terms of scaling heights. These other mangers have a much more simplified and less complex version of Wrngers job. Oh and comparing unlimited fund with Peps city and Chelsea Abam it's hardly a correct comparison as we have to judge based on simply not just winning /losong/drawing games because most of these managers have actually done nothing for the game itself.

If you ask Pep to grade this City, he'll give it a C. 3. Poch is the most careful and balanced but not yet at his peak. He will get even better. Closest to Sir Alex. 4. Klopp is the careless genius. His mind is ahead of his emotions and his emotions ahead of his mind paradoxically. It is art at a different special dimension. 5. Conte and Mou are REACTIONARIES with Mou being more dated and pyschoanalytical. 6. Wenger is the old man. Make of that what you want.

Best to worst managers (taking resources into account) 1. Pep = Klopp = Poch 4. Conte 5. Jose 6. Wenger 1-3 is impossible to call. Pep's team is obviously way ahead this season, but I'm not sure he could emulate Klopp/Poch success with small resources. Klopp/Poch have created amazing teams with almost 0 net spend, imo trophies in the next 2-3 seasons will define the no.1 spot

The problem with Guardiola and Mourinho (since Porto) is that they've only managed clubs which already had very good players (often world class) and/or have had virtually an unlimited budget to buy players. So who desreves credit for the winning of trophies - them or the previous managers of those clubs and the owners money? That is undoubtedly a bit unfair as there is no doubt they are both very good managers and it is very much to Guardiola's credit the way he has taken Man City to a new level - he knew what players he needed and bought them. I think Mourinho is past his best, he doesn't seem to have the respect of the players that he used to - they used to be prepared to die for him - and the disaster of his last season at Chelsea was completetly down to him. But Klopp is at least as good as any of those four, in my opinion.

Mourinho took over an Inter team who were underachieving in Europe, a Real team in the shadow of Pep's Barca and won the league

At Inter he had an old squad and won their first European cup since the 60s. He managed them to the first Italian treble winners, and other managers used to be sacked despite winning the league cause they were flopping in Europe. Mancini for example

No Klopp, No Debate. Pep has been there five minutes, lost to Liverpool, lost to Wigan. He's had the fantasy football choice of players due to monopolisation of moneyball, more than any of the other managers with an already set title winning squad. Give the other managers his money and startup, watch him drop.. This video is 25mins of time I cannot get back, kudos to the uploader regardless.

What about the boards? If they hire and fire more than 1 manager within less than 3 years (or 4 weeks), they should really be replaced. What about Graham Potter/Östersund and his alikes, building up bold teams from nothing, beating Arsenal at the Emirates?
