Salah is better than Merson was but I would't say 10 times better because Merson was actually a great player, I used to like him despite supporting Liverpool. As a pundit though he is insufferable, and I can't stand him, I don't like him at all. This conversation on Salah's contract negotiations is a simplified version of the current economy. People that think Lpool should just give Salah want he wants at his current age, signals to me they are probably not in full control of their own 'real life' spending habits. The logic here is *I see/have something that is making me happy 'for now' so I'll pay whatever to get/keep it and I'll deal with the financial implications/consequences later* (We're in a record inflationary period for goodness sake 🤣). I usually find myself questioning Merson on his takes, but I must say his *overall* assessment on this situation is *spot on* . If you're big on finances, money management, how to run and maintain something successful etc, then you'll always weigh up all aspects and try to discover how they can affect future decisions and operations. Many desperately want Salah to stay, but I understand that father time is a real thing, and God forbid he suffers a serious injury at this age, Lpool would be thinking, 'well we should have just got as much money when we had the chance, as he was getting on after all'. Hindsight is 20/20 though so I say just enjoy the moment for what it is!
