Great video very helpful. I have the arduino nano and it almost works it only reads bean temp. But does not turn on roaster. Loaded sketch a few times and settings on artisan, plugged wires a few times. Any idea what else can be done?

I want to do this but have never used arduino before. Though I have made streamers using the raspberry pie. Do you need an SD card in the arduino for the program or sketch?

Thanks, it helo me a lot. I followed all the instructions and it works. But I have an issue, some times the machine just stop the heating during the roast process, I read that could ve a lack of communication so the function in triggered the shutdown, do you know how to debbug the cause?

Thank you very much for posting this information. I was able to get Artisan working on my Skywalker roaster! I am coming from using Artisan on a Hottop 2K+ for several years and wanted to try the Skywalker with its larger capacity and unique heating bulb which gives the Skywalker more responsive heat control. The only thing I miss is having the Environmental Temp (ET) logged on Artisan. I purchased a type K thermocouple and was wondering if I could use the Arduino Uno to also log ET if I put the thermocouple into the bean entry slide. Can this be done? Thanks again!
@nirecue6 ай бұрын
Yes you can, the Arduino sending information from Skywalker in the same manner TC4 would. Artisan will communicate via USB/Serial Stream Artisan send out READ and Arduino/Skywalker will send out AT;ET;BT;T3;T4;HTR;FAN;SP ; where (AT)ambient (ET)(BT) - could be reversed, (T3/T4 )other temps, )HTR) heater value, (FAN) fan Value. You would need to add something like a MAX amplifier connected to the Arduino and some code that can pull from CHATGPT.

Excellent video, may I ask please how you keep both the controller and the arduino board at the same time? Can you show us the full setup or how you split the connection if you do? Also can you send a new link to the discord? the link on github has expired. Thank you

5V from PC usb to power the Arduino nano. The mainboard in the roaster powered by 24V PSU in the roaster.

@@nirecue Yes thank you for the explanation. I understood that. What I'm asking is where would the main controller (The box that originally controls the roaster via USB-A) of the roaster go if i want to keep it? Since there is only one USB-A port in the roaster, how do you split the connection? Or do you just get rid of the controller? @@elmesaoudizakariae521 I think home roasters forum has a guide but I am not sure how to keep the OEM controller. I am not a fan of the main controller and use an Elgato Stream Deck instead with Artisan.

Nice video, I purchased one of these units from China, total failure, the controllers don't work, the roaster overheated and almost burned down my house. When I contacted manufacturer in China, they said it was my fault, they don't want to guarantee the roasters.. Long story short, I need to control the roaster with something other than the controller that it came with. Would you be able to make the roaster work using the set up you showed here only? with out the controller?
@nirecue3 ай бұрын
@@CoffeeLovesCo there is a custom drop in PCB called Skyduino that we are testing. But so far if you wanna control the machine you need to use the manufacturer mainboard and use Artisan for better control.

Using the GitHub package and setting it up makes sense. How hard would it be for newbie to learn wiring piece? Any good resources for learning online?

An Arduino nano and breakout board with the phoenix connectors would make it a piece of cake.
Do you just plug the USB cable you make and plug into the Leonardo into the back of the Skywalker, or do you solder the wires to the control board? Is the regular controller left in the loop?

@@nirecue You misunderstood my question. Not Leonardo to computer side. The cable that goes to the Skywalker roaster. Do you connect that and the control panel at the same time. Or is it one or the other connected to the Skywalker's USB port?

@@expatinthailand9824 it goes to the Skywalker USB-A port. You can make a custom wiring y split to hook up both the Skywalker controller and Artisan Arduino

@@nirecue I can do that. I just got my Skywalker yesterday and ordered a Leonardo from China. I just turned it on to make sure it heats and drum spins, etc. I will start just using it with auto assist mode, and I will try my first roast with it today.
