Back when this Game came out, my Father decided to buy our first PC. Unbeknownst to him he bought one the most expensive Gaming PC´s available which came with a bunch of Accessories and Games, including UT99. So as a 7-year old boy, i installed it and got immediately hooked. Every Time my parents were away, I would end up playing Facing Worlds, standing on top of one of the Towers and Sniping the shit out of the enemy Bots, chaning Monsterkills in the process. This ended a couple of months later, when one evening - i was playing UT way past my bedtime - my parents came home from a party, only for them to hear in shock M-M-Monsterkill or the anguish Screams of dying Bots and dismemberment sounds coming from the PC Speakers. This Game has a special place in my Heart...

I used to play UT99 as a kid, and it's incredible how your childhood experiences seem to hardwire your brain to certain things. Every time I listen to this style of music I get really nostalgic. Recently I decided to search for some of the games I played as a kid and it all makes sense, as they were an integral part of my upbringing and many things I appreciate today date back to those experiences. I'm still trying to find all the maps I used to play, I'm not sure if they were mods or not. Either way, what a game!

@@ArnieMcStranglehold Alexander Brandon, Brian Tyler, Amon Tobin and a few others come to my mind. There's a familiarity in their symphonies that, even if you find them in another videogame or even movie, you can recognize it because they've been present in your life for such a long time. Next day we visit the Principal's office. It's the new one, and we're the new freshmen. She yells at us for fifteen minutes in the meeting room about wasting school resources before making us call our parents. All the parents chuckled or didn't care. But no, that Principal, she was like "I have to show these teens I mean business!" Now, twenty years later, I'm IT support/admin. I remember hearing about UT from the Angry German Kid videos that popped up back in the day. But when I finally played it, it was euphoric, some of the best sense of movement and verticality I've ever seen in any game. What became of the recent UT makes me sad.

Man, what do you mean you passed out and dreamed you were in the 2020s? It's still 1999, you are at a LAN party since the last 72 hours with all your friends and we have summer holidays. We're starting a new round of UT, are you in?

This must be one of the most timeless sound ever to exist. If I would hear this for the first time today, it would have the same power as it would have back in the days of the early 2000s

I love Unreal Tournament. I got UT and Q3 the same time on my SEGA Dreamcast and I think, from the beginning I liked UT a little bit more. The sniper-rifle was nice.

this is crazy good, the aesthetic is so cool, look at this awesome map and music, the futurism and escapism and sick jungle with people dueling on a space asteroid in a virtual world, Ive never even played UT but as a big half life player i easily sympathize with all my brothers here in the comments who for sure have some great memories of this that many can never understand. This is what gaming should be and has lost. you can't even get escapism anymore in games like garbage fortnite style and modern money grabbing FPS with their skin economies marketed at poor kids who dont know shit about what gaming used to be or what it could have been if this real oldschool shit was still going. the next generations of gamers will never share in any of this :(

I played this game when I was 5 yo.... there were no dlcs, no season pass, no roadmap, only pure fun and absolutely immersive music. I'm now near 30, but would still recognize any sound from UT.

Man, Unreal Tournament 99 was one of my favourite games as a young teenager. Loved spending hours after school on single player Facing Worlds back in the day. This along DM-Morpheus guaranteed hours of fun! Still two of my most favourite maps of all time of any FPS - so simplistic yet so fun and with brilliant and imaginative design. Luckily, the game is still available in Steam. Amazing nostalgia! Huge props and respect for Inoxx / Cedric Fiorentino who created these two of the greatest maps, as well as for Michiel van den Bos who made this amazing soundtrack

I got this track on Fortnite and I've had it applied ever since. It still hasnt gotten old. I'm very grateful it appeared in the shop coincidentally shortly after I started playing, and when i had just 200 Vbucks left. I love this song! also i forgot i already had a comment. oh well! just shows more of my appreciation for this wonderful song

I was born in 2003, so obviously too young to know this game at its peak. Though, I remember playing this map on a TF2 community server and having a lot of fun, despite it being a little unsuited for TF2's weapons (some weapons were way too good). This map, the space aesthetics and this amazing DnB song are really nice - it's uncommon to see such simple yet cool things made today.

In fifth grade I set all the kitchen window blinders on fire while playing UT instead of watching the oil on the stove while preparing lunch. I was very lucky I didn't get burnt. The kitchen had a faint burnt oil smell for a few years even after the special cleaning and repainting the walls and ceiling. My parents actually didn't scold me too hard, because they were relieved I wasn't hurt. I love this soundtrack to this day. I was hooked on this game.

OMG Face and Face 2 were awesome stages. I never played this game personally, but I use to watch my brother play this when I was a kid. I remember one day the disk let me listen to the soundtrack instead of the game poping on, it was weird, but this song will always be my favorite.

This piece of perfection needs a re-master, no need for seasonal updates or changes in character builds. They could use all the original sound effects and music and I would be more than pleased. Miss the flak cannon, when you saw that smiley face on the end of the shell you knew you were finished, they won't make games like this any more.

I was too young to play this game at the time it came out, but I'm sure I would have loved it. I played 2004 and really enjoyed the game and how it played, but this map is a golden standard and legendary among the FPS world. A simple yet greatly designed level. The music is top tier as well, I use this track for when I play FPS games in the background as it fits perfectly. Hopefully one day we get another amazing game that is similar to the Unreal Series in today's climate of gaming.
