My first time flying was in one of these when I was a child. My mother asked the flight attendant for the cockpit tour. She did and then introduced me to the pilots. Really nice guys. I was a very shy kid and didn't say a word but I was fascinated with the cockpit. My love for aviation started there, and this video reminds me of that moment. Thank you for uploading!

My love for flying and for everyone that ever flew a jet especially everyone who ever flew for U.S Airways especially in September of 2010 started when I was beyond blessed by God to experience first class the very first time I was on a jet and a U.S Airways Boeing 737-300 or Boeing 737-400 at that. 14 years later I still both love and miss those individuals that flew the jets that I was on and I remember that trip like yesterday💞☮️🇺🇸✈️❤️

Thanks for the memories. Flew the Brasilia 1988 - 1994 - about 4200 hours worth. One of the best planes I’ve ever flown. Very capable, stable - even on one engine. Normally operated fron 5,000 feet up to Flight Level 250 (about 25,000 feet), but have taken it up to Flight Level 310 (31,000) on a couple of occasions. Max operating altitude is 32,000. The Pratt & Whitney PW 118 turboprops had a lot of power, and climbing was never a problem, with 1800 shaft horsepower on tap, even at max gross t/o weight (25,353 lbs.). I loved the control yoke, that had the same shape as the Concorde’s - like a ram’s horn. Thanks again.

@Suriname Countryball They aren't more dangerous. This is a huge misconception. Jet aircraft were actually very dangerous in the 1900's. It's just that turboprops fly so much more cycles and flights, and often less skilled novice pilots and less experienced maintenance crews operate on them. The actual prop jet itself are actually very safe. It's who flies and maintains it that are responsible for any accidents.They also have stellar performance, they can do far more than any turbofan jet engine aircraft can.

@@JL-lg8tk True, but some are more vulnerable to icing than others. Like the Q400 seldom has these issues. Yet the ATR and EMB120 have had accidents regarding them.

Flying on this plane gave me an uncontrollable horrible fear of flying. I was 13 and there was pretty decent turbulence, was shaking nonstop for 5 minutes and banking (ik banking is normal but it was terrifying for me in that situation). I'm a big fan of turboprop airliners! It makes me very sad that most regional airlines are phasing them out, and switching to pure jet aircraft. I wish that the mainliners like the Boeing 737 and Airbus A-320 were turboprop instead of pure jet. Some say that driving a vehicle with a manual transmission, "Stickshift", is "Real Driving". I say that flying in a propeller driven airliner is "Real Flying"! I personally love the sound that the props make, the "box fan" sound in high idle and taxiing, and the "bumblebee" sound in takeoff and in flght! "Bumblebee Sound" is my name for the bass hum and vibration, heard inside the cabin of a turboprop airliner. It's true, most turboprop airliners are a quite noisy, but the quietest turboprop I ever flew on was the ATR-42, back in 1992 with American Eagle. My girlfriend has given the ATR the nickname, "The Whisperprop". It's my understanding that the majority of the public doesn't like the turboprops, one reason being because many of them are noisy. To get the public to better accept the turboprops, thicker cabin insulation would be one solution to reduce the noise. Also, it's my understanding that the majority of the public is convinced that the turboprop engine is a turbocharged piston driven propeller engine, when in fact, it's actually a jet engine with a propeller attatched. If you listen to the engine fire up, and run in low idle, you can hear the whine of the jet engine. The word "Turboprop" actually refers to the fact that it's a turbine powered engine, and not a piston engine. To help educate the public that the turboprop engine is indeed a jet propeller engine, they could paint in big letters, "PROP JET" on the sides of the engine cowels.
@LoveJT8D6 жыл бұрын
Jacky Claiborne I like your idea of “prop jet” and further educating the public that the turboprop is indeed a jet engine. I do appreciate the earlier jets such as the DC-9 (still real flying to me) but I get your point. Learning how to sync/feather the props makes you become one with the aircraft. Fore the turboprops are some of the last aircraft providing real variety in an airline’s fleet. All of the newer 737s and a320s start to become bland after a while.

DylBeen the Plotagonist and randomee 240 It really is sad that Skywest got rid of the Bros. I’m age had a little bit to do with it. Sadly the public perception of the safety of turboprops hasn’t helped them either. Even though the engine is still a jet engine. Seems like we continue to lose the variety in the airline fleets.

I was on the EMB for about a year or so. The Brasilia is a small but, very cool little aircraft. I went from working on a 757 with 175 pax & 3 or 4 other (sometimes not so, friendly) FA's, to working alone on the EMB w/only 30 pax...so, it was definitely a nice change of pace from N7.
@LoveJT8D10 жыл бұрын
prettyhatemachine Wow! And how cool that you worked on a 757. That is one amazing aircraft in which I hope to get more footage. Although it seems like quite the transition I bet the EMB-120 was a nice change of pace and almost like having an office all to yourself :) The lower altitudes of the Brazilias can make for some interesting rides I can imagine.

+LoveJT8D Lol, yeah it was nice. The only downside were the lonely layovers (only because I didn't have another FA to hang out with, lol.) National Airlines only flew 757's so, it was very different. I always bid galley though so, it was like having my own little office within the office. I loved flying for N7 (they had such pretty planes.) But, they're defunct, now.
