You're awesome !!! And it's exactly my case ! Can't believe I was so lucky today and found this video in a minute by searching: sl500 r230 roof. I googled that part no and found genuine "Mercedes r230 (02-12) Repair Kit for Convertible Top Flap" on Amazon for $66 ! Ordered kit and can't wait to do it. Then I'ma move to next videos and try to adjust top, glue leather trim ...Not sure, how it'll go because here and there some small plastic parts are broken. Thank you so much for big help with repair !!! 🙂

Thanks to this video and other videos I have just did this myself. It’s much easier if you pop the flap off, and unscrew it from the arm. Put everything back the re attach the flap. However I notice your old part is the upgraded version. Your old part is not from the factory and this was replaced at least once before. Also hope you added some grease inside that “rack and pinion” where you can see the wears

Yes, good insight, I did lube it up, and yeah I found removing it and using some painters tape to hold it together as assembly happens is easier too! Thanks for watching , I’m glad to hear you fixed yours! MooseMade

Doesn't look like your new mounting plates are threaded. I had to get a mechanic to tap new theads; he says that parts sometimes come from the factory w/o threads.

I added some nickel strips I had left over from a Li-ion build. Used two layers(one long strip folded over). Like a bearing/spacer thingy...

Very good info as it reminds me I have one flap that at least needs adjusting. Please do me a favor though....get rid of that insanely awful background track. It's like nails on a blackboard.

I have not encountered that before, my best guess would be a low battery in the key fob.

Hello would you say that a $5000. Transmission replacement is fair pricing? any advice is appreciated.

I feel there are a few factors that go into it. Is it a new transmission? Are there shipping costs, a core charge? (Cash On Return Exchange) is the work being done by the dealership, or a local shop you trust? I had to change the trans in mine and the shop I used found one from a newly crashed SL, I had it installed and programmed for the car for about 2500. Also, the shop that did it gave me a warranty for six months on the trans and a year on the work. Things to consider. I’m sorry to hear you are having transmission issues. The local dealership wanted nearly 11 thousand for the same work as a point of reference. MooseMade

@@moosemadevideo9330 hello thanks for replying, it would be a rebuilt piece with a core exchange warranties on labor and parts as well the work /labor performed by a local shop with Mercedes’ experience, the dealership would charge more than the vehicles worth. Thanks again
