I like cabs with druzy vugs, although I have never made one. The problem with the vugs in these rocks is that they are not small. Most would go across the whole cab. I think they would be better if the vug could just be in the center of the cab, not on the edges.

Hello from a long-time Chicagoland lurker! Thanks for sharing your lovely videos-- they've been my little vicarious getaways while I've been bunkered down for this whole pandemic thing. Anyway-- there's enough tonality to the sound of the slabs clinking that you could probably create a wind chime of some sort, I bet. Hey Rob Nice slabs. Hope you get one for your son. Will you do some in your lotto tumble? How well do slabs do in a rotary tumbler?
@MichiganRocks4 жыл бұрын
I don't usually tumble slabs unless they're pretty small. I start them in a rotary and finish them in the Lot-O just like any other rocks. The end cuts from these rocks are already in the rotary tumbler. They're so deeply pitted that I'm not sure how they'll end up or if I'll do a lot of cutting and grinding on them.

Maybe make a mosaic coffee table, or end table? In clear acrylic, with a light under it, might highlight the crystals and the different small holes.
@MichiganRocks4 жыл бұрын
If I was ever going to make a coffee table with permanent rocks for my house, it would have Michigan rocks in it. I don’t mind a plate of exotic rocks on my coffee table, but a whole table of this sort or rock seems like it would be too much.
@kathleennorton61084 жыл бұрын
@@MichiganRocks It depends on how the project is planned, and how it comes together. It certainly would take an artistic flare to pull it off right. A lot of the colors are subtle, so it might be sort of rustic. It is important, though, to work off your own inspiration. A table would be fun to see, however you might be inspired to accomplish it!
@MichiganRocks4 жыл бұрын
@@kathleennorton6108 I don't have a place that my wife would let me put a table. I had thought of making a table with a glass top that you could put rocks under to display. That way, the rocks could be changed once in a while. I saw a table I really liked at a craft show. It had an area around the perimeter router out and filled with Petoskey Stone slabs and very small gravel (almost sand) filling in the area around them. Then the whole thing was epoxied. It was just a border a little over an inch wide around an otherwise wood table. It was tastefully done, in my opinion.
@kathleennorton61084 жыл бұрын
@@MichiganRocks The idea to change out rocks is a really good one. I wonder if it's out there somewhere? Of course it could be used with many other things, too. The Petoskey stone table sounds nice. If nothing else, maybe we inspired someone else to do it. That would be cool!

I have been debating about what to do about contacting the seller. The first time, he sent tumble size pieces, which isn't what I ordered. I had to pay shipping to return the rocks, but he did throw in five pounds of flame agate on top of the ten pounds of crazy lace that I ordered. I thought that was very fair of him to make up for his mistake plus the extra shipping I had to pay. I don't really want to ask for more. On the other hand, this seller has an eBay store that is not brand new and has 100% positive feedback. I don't feel like I got what I ordered and ended up buying more rocks from another source. I haven't rated the seller yet. I've been debating how to do that. I think I'll go with a neutral rating with an explanation.

@@daydbaysinger4572 I love green. I'm a gardener, I taught at a school whose colors were green and white, and green rocks always catch my eye. I just don't like certain green shirts.

The red rock looks to me like jasper or plume, remember, agate is translucent, none looks like crazy lace... 🤔🙄
@MichiganRocks3 жыл бұрын
Crazy lace isn't translucent like most agates. I'd say some of this is low quality crazy lace, but not much of it.

Didn’t look like crazy lace at all. Not sure on the fire ones either at least not the ones I’ve see You might want to try a different supplier next time.

I already bought and slabbed some from the Rock Shed. It was both better and cheaper.

Hopefully you didn't pay a lot for the bunch. I agree they look nice but the lace wasn't there
