Hey. You can’t always slay them but sometimes watching the challenge that is real in bass fishing is eye opening. Most you tubers only post their amazing days but we all know that’s not reality. 🤜🤛

Tough lake, so kudos to you for attempting it, especially during January! I used to fish it a bit years ago and my biggest bass always came at night fishing shorelines -- I think 7 pounds was my best. Probably easier to fish at night in such clear water.

This is by far, my favorite fishing lake and I have fished a lot of the big named fisheries. Each cast seems to be to a spot that is more magnificent than the last spot. It is almost impossible to find a spot to cast to that doesn't look like it should be stacked with fish. I have caught my share of real nice fish out of Jocassee and have had my fair share of skunked days. Thanks for you video. It was a good one and definitely show cased this beautiful lake. p.s. fish it in the spring!!!

I'm jealous of this lake looks like a awesome spawn lake up by them falls. I'm from the finger lakes in ny Cayuga Lake is like 450 feet deep so it's a completely different fishing down here but I love it. Can't wait to hit this lake someday

Yea when I go up on jocasse the water is like 700 feet deep

I used to fish it a lot 20-30 years ago. Back then, the spotted bass/redeyes were a minority species and the largemouth and smallmouth were the majority. The clear water makes for difficult fishing. I've seen huge largemouth over 10 lbs. suspended over a laydowns. Generally speaking if you can see them, you ain't catching them. The scenery is nice but I have to say I've been skunked on Jocassee a lot more than I've had good days. I've caught over 100 bass in a day at Jocassee fishing with floating worms in early May. I've caught some nice largemouth and smallmouth. I've had a 7-8 lb. smallmouth shake off. During the Spring you can go up the Toxaway River arm to the North Carolina line and catch several species that congregate there during the spawn. The water is there is often stained and relatively shallow. Warning: There is no reciprocating license agreement between NC and SC, so you have to have a license if you want to fish the 100 acres of Jocassee inside NC. There's some good spawning cover in NC but you can catch plenty fishing the SC side. A buoy marks the border.

@@southernnathaniel true! I think it actually is 800 ft at its deepest. It's a man-made lake by filling in a valley town in the mountains.

Dudes! 4 pound test!! or smaller or youll never catch a Jocassee trout! Period! Unless the fish has Dimentia! And? when you can see them? they can see you! Even trolling a Sutton spoon 80 feet down? I use a four pound test leader!
