@@freewheelinduke5342 SKINHEAD was a youth style at the time, similar to MODS but with shaved or extra short hair, hence the name. They would favour big braces, Doc Marten boots, Ben Sherman check shirt, Harrington jacket OR a Crombie wool coat and jeans which were short to show the height of the Doc Marten boots. Chas Chandler of The Animals had managed Hendrix by then, so when he took over the band, they changed to the Skinhead fashion to cash in on the following that wasn't being catered for, although they didn't really want to. It was 1971 that COZ I LUV U changed the style and gave them a hit. I still love the early stuff, but from 1971 is the best.

My mum hated Slade and particularly Dave Hill and I was banned as a kid from watching them on tv. Years later having played in and out of bands I discovered what absolute superstars they are and appreciate the hard work put in before they were famous, the pub circuit in Birmingham must've been tough in the 60's, we had it easy playing club-land in the 90's and foreign gigs where they won't let you leave the stage, teddy boys that only liked classic rock and roll, fights breaking out during shows, Swedish illegal bars where to show appreciation the audience would free pour moonshine and some kind of mixer straight into your mouth now firstly you end up dribbling all over your stage clothing then telling them to fuck off cos it's all over you then actually begging for it from the crowd until our Bass player passed out on stage!! So I get it..
