@@thedirtheadshed I do really enjoy all your videos and the only issue I have with the longer ones is that it takes me a while to get through them. I'm not a lowrider fan but I enjoy how you do them for the creativity and thought process, and fab work, For shocks, years ago I stuck to off the shelf common part numbers for ease of replacement if I was on the road. That came in handy when I broke a shock on my lifted XJ and had to drive home to NH. The front shocks were stock YJ shocks with the bushings swapped. I bought one locally and swapped bushings, and drove home. Anyway- when I needed some for the rear of a Samurai with a SPOA lift I used old F250 rear shocks because they had the travel I needed. Two things made the heavy valving work- I had the shocks angled inward at the top to give extra travel, which worked well with the firmer shocks; and I used to use Red Ryder shocks, which were very cheap, but also valved very softly. It was a perfect fit for my needs, and the Samurai didn't ride harshly, and had lots of wheel travel. It was fun doing the research and "engineering" (I use that loosely) to pick parts and a design that suited my needs.

It’s a low rider: low and slow is the name of the game. If that means more 3 point turns, just more opportunities to make 3-point turns and have people admire your ride. 😊

Dave, you work so hard and know how to balance perfection and get’er done better than anyone on KZbin! I’m trying to tell myself to do a little more get’er done on my personal project so I appreciate the inspiration. That being said a cantilever setup on the front shocks could be cool and we all know you would come up with something unique.
@thedirtheadshed8 күн бұрын
It would be cool. Maybe 20 years ago I would have done that. But I’ve learned simple is almost always better. And a bunch of pivots, bars, and heim joints to make a shock work seems ridiculous.

I’m jealous because it looks like you don’t have any issues of chipping paint. I have the same trim and color 1995 Nissan king cab and have areas all over the truck where the thin white paint is chipping off. I have to be extremely careful when washing it. I’m bummed cause it has the same aqua colored stripes and would hate to paint it. Not sure what I’m going to do with it yet but your videos give me the motivation to do something. Love how this is coming along. Mine will never be a “mini truck” but it’s cool to see you make one out of my truck’s twin. Maybe if this one ever retires from hauling bikes and random junk, I’ll lay it on the ground. I have some KZbin tutorials here from a trusted fab guy. Lol.

5:15 gotta get one of those cheese grinder type deals, _shape_ down your filler before it gets fully hard, then come back after it's been shaped and now dry and _then_ sand so you don't have to spend so much time and exertion sanding 👌🏼 Love this truck, you really don't know how jealous I am lol.... and oh.... I found you the _PERFECT_ subs for this thing when it comes to audio man..... Hopefully you've heard of the car audio company called Sundown Audio, they're extremely well known in the SPL and SQL competition scene.... well, not them exactly, but the main owner/designer of Sundown Audio's drivers built a series of subs for a small company that wanted "90's style audio, but with today's output and quality"...so they built these slick subs that would actually fit _perfectly_ with what your Hardbody looks like currently, they're bare aluminum cones, with bare aluminum baskets, and they've got bright blue cone surrounds which would match your side decals 👌🏼 (edit: and hopefully blue Mercedes style tint!!!) The company is called Sparked Innovations and the subs are called Bass Blasters lol (definitely 90s 😅) Here's a link to them, again, built by Sundown Audio, 2000w RMS, all of them, from their 10s to 15s. I think a 10 in each corner of the extended cab under the side window right in the corner angled, facing each person, in a fiberglass enclosure (easy to do, especially with your skill level, just put the T/S numbers into an enclosure building program on your PC to get the perfect ideal enclosure specs, build in partial MDF, 10" MDF rings with MDF standoffs, then cover and tack the thing in felt, a sheet, Kevlar, Carbon, whatever to get your base shape, and epoxy the 💩 outta it, sand, and either paint, wrap, coat, or polish) Amps can go in the center under the rear window, you can make it look like one enclosure with the fiberglass/Kevlar/carbon. sparkedinnovations.com/collections/bass-blaster-series-subwoofers
