Willoughby recycling

On the first week of the Willoughby contract I went out to find the new JJRE/Volvos that had replaced there previous fleet that consisted of 9 Sideearms, 6 25m bodies, and 3 DAVs that would service Laneways and tighter streets. as well as 4 RLs, 2 Acco Euro 5/UrBins used for bulk bins. A Dennis/Urbin and an Acco Euro 4/JP5 for bulk waste. After looking around for a short period of time, I found this truck on the recycling just before 8AM, then after finishing up and starting to head back towards home I found it again and got some more footage of it.
Definitely happy with the footage I got, tho I’m not a big fan of JJRE/Volvo sidearms I’m glad to get them on there first days when they where still new and shiny. probably won't be returning to film the sidearms there, but may come back for the Rls.

I really enjoyed this video, and I can envisage a time when those trucks will not be able to access the narrow streets, and I hope they have smaller trucks on order. The character of the old trucks is sadly disappearing but is to be expected as they come to the end of their life because they no longer meet the many standards that are required. I appreciate that you are actually recording history with the evolution of the garbage truck in the many locations in which you film. Excellent video. Well done 👏 👍

Thanks John! Yeah definitely sad seeing all the oldies go. I do have heaps more footage in the archive of a variety of older trucks around Sydney for the future years.

The new trucks are 1000% better for my lower back. I needed a chiropractor with the old trucks

@wehz0r I and many other enthusiasts enjoy the older trucks because of the sounds and sights of these vehicles, such as their roar and exhaust plumes, among other things. I can appreciate the issues that you may have as a driver/operator and therefore understand why the newer trucks are a much better option.

Great video mate, most definitely agree with you, volvos arent the the best but JJ's are a fan of them so what can we do? Are they all volvos now or are there some old trucks for spares? Kep up the great footage!

A few old rl’s from there are used for commercial bins all around Sydney now
