Thank you for this. It's a real shame that you miss out on so much stuff if you put the game on Auto Crusade Mode. Crusade Mode needs to be more intuitive, especially the UI. Teaching myself the basics before I watched this video was a slow and painful process.

Thanks so much for this! As more of a visual learner, it's SOOOO much more helpful to actually see the advice being given actually played out rather than simply just told to me. I was always told ranged units were the best, but actually seeing it in action makes me understand why. Makes the whole system seem much more digestible.

Hey Slandered! Your previous video series is what FINALLY got me to pull the trigger and start WotR before Kingmaker. Now I can finally enjoy this video since I just got to chapter 2. Keep up the great work man.

...and I immediately went back to game and accidentally ran into a level 7 enemy army right near the start for a stack wipe. I guess like in the main game, you need to be VERY careful when and where you click, because I dont know of any way to stop an action after starting it. It's already screwed me over in battles (Usually walking 1 foot past your single movement limit and turning it into a full turn movement...speaking of, is there any way of standing up in place without clicking off your character?) and I realized the side arrow was gonna send me straight into the demon army just a little too late and there was no way to stop it. Better to learn THAT lesson early I suppose? Is there any recourse for the stack wipe, or did I just waste the 7.k gold completely I gave to Irabeth?

If you click on the wrong spot press spacebar to stop your movement. If you are playing with a controller I am not sure what button it is but there is definitely a button to stop your movement.

​@@SlanderedGaming Huh, I have tried that but every time I press the space bar all it does is accelerate the turn. I need to figure out what is going on or if I am hitting something I don't intend. I basically have in my mind that space is "stop" but it really always just seems to be "get to the next turn as fast as possible"

I understand crusade management - I just don't like it. I turned down the difficulty so I don't have to focus on it. Neoseeker's guide is my go to on details. 100% agreement that Setsuna is the best general. My strategy is to put ranged in corner with melee/tanks around them in a fort style. Master of Maneuver is my go to over power for this strategy. Thanks for this - very useful

This is really helpful. I feel you spend more time in crusade mode than anything else. So it's really important to get a grasp on it and building up your outposts correctly

I apologize if I missed this in the video but, one thing that got me on my first playthrough was, defeating the forts will advance the story of Act 2.

The automatic battle option is a surprise to me, considering you are forewarned and can still choose to fight the battle: good to know! TY // Of course, a new player should practice on weaker armies to see how battles work.

personaly i don't mind the crusade mode that much. you get some interesting unit options especialy if you go legend MP... vampire ninja pirates if i recall correctly

It really sucks how a lot of creatures don't have hit reaction animations. It looks so bad when you hit a demon and it just stands there like nothing happened. Also, if you enjoy Crusade mode or want to see it done well, I would recommend the Heroes of Might and Magic series, they go on sale on GOG a lot. Heroes 3 and 5 are thed best. There's also Songs of Conquest, but it's still in early access.

My first playthrough ended with the game basically saying yeah you suck at this so they took all the armies off the board and I could go straight to threshold

I know this is an old video but I think this question is important, and I hope there's an answer. I ask because I'm literally at this point in the game and have not played farther yet. It feels very odd, and maybe even broken, that you can't have simultaneous movement of the hero party and the crusader armies. Am I missing something or is it just a simple design that harms nothing? Am I supposed to ignore the hero party and questing while running through what is essentially the act 2 crusade? So confusing! In my game, I've switched back and forth, trying to end out days of no crusader army movement points with hero party movement. It feels off though and not intuitive.

So when I got to Act 2, I spent all my cash on scrolls and equipment. I haven't moved out yet but since I'm broke I won't be able to improve my army. Should I keep them where they are and just move my party places until I have more cash to bolster the army? I guess I should spend all my cash on the army from now on.

In Act 2 all that's necessary is for you to remove the Demon Forts that block story progression. To do that your army needs to go up to level 5 I believe. The level 6 and 7 Demon armies can be taken out in Act 3 or 5.

It did nothing to stop me from blowing all my cash before getting to the actual Crusade Management tutorial and now I have no way to move forward but to take my main party and go adventuring and make cash. XD At least there's no timer threatening to end my campaign because of it.

Mage generals and marksman were always the best way to defeat enemy armies.

Axe throwers now! They do even more damage than archers. You need the Last Sarkorians DLC, and then agree with the NPC party member in the council to get them though, and that's not until Act 3. They are utterly brutal ranged troops .though.

I think I totally screwed up. I had a 2 high level armies and lost my best one. Now I am in act 3 and I have lower level armies and the demons are level 6. I was trying to conserve resources and wait until act 3 to get better units. Crap.

In Act 3 the strength of your armies is really a matter of money so just plunge more coin into your armies strength and you should be fine.

Moral just made me uninstall because i wasn't able to proceed in the story anymore. No recruits, no battles, no Drezen... And that was pretty much after i became "commander".

In the settings you can turn Crusade Mgmt off. That allows you to just play the game.

idk, imho is the best part of the game. Really triggers nostalgia to Kings bounty or HoM&M especially the third game, the best one
