this path makes me think of darth nihilus from kotor 2 a lot. it's never really explained, but nihilus is essentially a sentient mass of dark side who can only continue to exist by devouring and consuming life. his servants and allies only stave off consumption because they remain useful in enabling him to consume more, with lines like "i am the darkness in which all life dies" and "all life exists simply to sacrifice itself to me" could be good to do a "darth nihilus" themed playthrough. be a lightning magus, start down the demon path and switch to swarm later. just need a magic item helmet that looks like a sufficiently cool mask

Pathfinder has done something great. Ive never liked completely evil playthroughs; I start them, enjoy them at the beginning but then usually they just start being so extreme or silly that they dont make sense to me. Ive only liked being evil in two games before: Kotor 1 and Tyranny. Add PF:WOTR to that list. The lich is interesting in terms of abilities, but in terms of being a truly evil entity thats come into power, the swarm is truly unique. I enjoyed this video because I was unable to open the path initially, but my 3rd playthrough will definitively be a swarm character!

Well developers rarely know How to make evil lines for the main character. But this game have great evil characters like daeren, regil, the lich master. Good and evil dont really actually exist, whats cobsidered evil Its what the culture deems amoral for that individual.

Have to admit... if even Wenduag decides to Nope out, you know you dun fucked up. This choice: You went Full Edgelord; Never go Full Edgelord! (and there's not even any tropics, or thunder) Oookay... a GODDESS Literally turns you to ash; and it still didn't stop you. It just pissed you off. Gotta say, that's actually pretty badass. (Now if only they'd gone full ham on the mechanics it might have been really fun to play this path)

I think that the swarm should be beyond the alignment chart, calling this "evil" is like calling a locus swarm, deadly virus or natural disaster "evil" You became a force of nature, one of technically still is a living thing, but doesn't have a real will of it's own other than hunger (I know it's probably too much work but I would've love for this path to just take away all dialogue options and instead of hatred filled supervillan speech, there is just the silent buzzing)

Objectively, and as the game currently sits or until Owlcat implements further patches, tweaks, nerfs, etc., Swarm (with clones), given how large you can grow the swarm itself, is perhaps arguably the most powerful Mythic path in the game, hands down but it comes with a huge sacrifice (going it alone, missing large chunks of the story, etc., etc.).

If it just to topple oppressor or authoritarian emperor I would play evil, but when it's about fate of the world as a whole to become menace is not an option. I can roleplay as destroyer of civilization, bane of entire sentient race, burned rows of settlement but not the world it's just too much, personally I think destroying mortal or even killing them is counterproductive even as demon or devil or whatever. For example succubus why would you suck your prey dry? Better leave them to recover then suck them again later while you hunt new prey adding to your collection, life force can recover as long you didn't snuff it out, I mean I am demon I am supposed to suck life force that's how I live just like human need food so to destroy my source of nourishment seems silly to me, Human generally easier target than other demon or extraplanar being, especially important when you are demon that sucks emotion or glutton of life force that you didn't extinguish your food source so something like destroying the world mindless murder or uncontrollable destruction seems like stupid proposition to me. Even as a lich having undead empire seems so stupid to me it's like you need the living to create unliving so to turn every living being as undead seems like stupidity, beside life of lich in my imagination is dull life of all work no fun, with your bony body you are devoid of sense just like Ainz Gooal can't have sex, can't enjoy good food, can't feel anything seems like why most lich hate life since they're incapable of doing so they're jealous. As a demon your life goal is to temp mortal make them your little plaything, toy with them so again counterproductive to eliminate mortal you will lose your toy and your source of delight and again sound extremely stupid. This is why I don't generally like how evil character story unfold, it's mindless bland and doesn't sit really well with me there is not much benefit and no meaning to it.

Devil has a much more controlled and self interested type of evil. Demon is more so about spreading chaos and doing things that oftentimes don't even make sense. I prefer the Devil type of evil but in this game I think Demon has the stronger storyline.

Demons lack self control because of its chaotic nature. They do things impulsively and for pleasure. Everyone knows that it's hard to stop doing things that give you pleasure. So demons kill not because they think its the best thing to do, but because they can't stop.

@@GabrielPassarelliG obviously not, some demon in Ember quest arc doesn't do that, in fact they're tired of killing each other, Nocticula seems to be able to think using common sense, obviously you see very well on your visit in her Domain that not all demon killing you on sight, as thiefling you have demon blood in you sometimes you hear whisper about doing something evil but ultimately the choice is in your hand, it's the same as being mithic demon, you can let your rage take over or you can just deal with it normally. At every corner the game actually show you that demon by nature can change it just most doesn't want to change, even game loading message told you if Angel can Fall does that means Demon can ascend? The answer is yes you can, Arushalae is living proof of that, in the game you have bloodrager archetype Repentance Fiend it's locked for thiefling another proof that there is demon that doesn't do what you said.

Can you level up your mythic hero path and THEN choose swarm later in the game? Or you have to wait with level ups for most of the game to choose swarm and upgrade multiple levels at once? I'm in the middle of act 2 and it doesn't look like i can change my mythic path at all

You get to choose from one of six Mythic paths at the end of Act 2. Then in Act 5 you choose your Mythic path again. You can re-affirm your original choice or depending on what you have done previously, there might be new Mythic Paths available. Swarm can only be chosen in Act 5.
