This is the best review I've seen on the slate ML-2 so far.

subscribed to your channel. great review. i have 2 of these already and i think for the price they're great. the ML-1 i think it a little overpriced but esp if you find these used they're so much fun to mess around with and just give you more options in post. i bought 2 so i could alternate between using for snare and kick or on vocals and acoustic guitar in my vocal booth. but NOW im thinking of getting a 3rd one so when i have them on snare / kick i can also pop one in as a room mic since i cant afford a really nice room mic. for people on a budget i think its as good as you're gonna get until you can afford a real neumann or something. cheers, friend!

Yes. They’re great little mics. I would never buy the ML-1. I skipped that and went with the Townsend Labs L22 (DLX) Sphere. A much higher quality. But for SDC mics, these little guys shouldn’t be over looked! Thanks for the sub!

I just bought the VMS mic and I love it, but I need to know where you insert Melodyne when using the VSM software. VSM goes on top of the vocal track, so does Melodyne go above it or below it?
@TheRecordist5 ай бұрын
Hey there. Melodyne should always be first before any processing. Just apply the VMS right after. Cheers!

Have you personally compared this to the Antelope Edge Note?
@TheRecordist Жыл бұрын
I have not. I must say, for the price, the ML-2 is decent and is definitely cool. If it was any more expensive, I may not think the same.

So... do you need the all access pass to use the plugin? Or do are you able to use the plugin for free
@TheRecordist Жыл бұрын
That’s a great question. I have a Slate All Access Pass subscription but I rarely use it. I actually don’t know why I keep paying for it. I use mostly UAD. Anyway, the mic does come with the software license key. So I don’t think you need the all access pass in order to use it. I think the module just has blanked out options except for the instrument mic modeler. I would double check that but I’m a subscriber so I can’t. There’s no way their business model would have you paying monthly.
