Hi Spencer, Good to see youre still restoring these lovely old clocks. This one is particularly beautiful, you did a great job on it. I was very impressed with the brass finial that you turned. I've never attempted anything with level of detail yet. Looking forward to more videos Johnny

Thank you Johnny, good to hear from you. Two more videos today one on sync the time with strike and the other on my turning the final. I hope they will encourage others to take the plunge. Simon

Hi Spencer. This is a very nice job. There's always a lot of debate on a forum I follow (NAWCC) over "how far to go": whether an old clock should look clean and work and look its age with defects acquired over the years or whether it should be restored to look new. This is often referred to as conservation versus restoration. Personally I think it's a matter of personal choice and depends on the clock. But in my opinion you have got the balance exactly right here. Well done. Andy

Thank you Andy. The fact of the matter is that I am not conserving clocks I am saving them from the scrap heap where many end up. But I do try to retain their original dignity. So thank you so much for your acknowledgement that I did so here. For me it is an expensive recreation but with a purpose!
