I once dealt with a South African client called Younghusband. It's a pretty rare name, so I asked if he was related to Francis Younghusband. "The bloke who invaded Tibet? Yes, he was my great uncle!", he said.

The problem with education in the public schools is that there isn't any history, merely because the teachers aren't aware of it.It is a now an computer science that drives them into the future without any knowledge of the past.
@Grimenoughtomaketherobotcry
@Grimenoughtomaketherobotcry 3 жыл бұрын
@@markhonerbaum6988 There are many highly intelligent and knowledgeable young people who graduate from public education each year, and many choose a career in teaching after graduating from university. This despite governments that slash educational spending; overload the curriculum, and/or re-write it so poorly that it is intelligible only to those who wrote it, and even that's doubtful; and reducing or eliminating entirely the required number of credits in history (see spending cuts above). Governments since the 1980's have come to regard education as an ATM to be looted at will, while at the same time using it to push whatever ideology they advocate, left or right. Most politicians' interest in education is, other than as an emergency fund, to use it as a set for photo-ops, allowing them to show the public just how "deeply concerned" they are about "educational issues" in the next election. Don't blame young people for what they inherit.

I actually was at a youth gethering in 2013 (I think around this time) Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada where the Dhali Lama was speaking. It wad pretty sureal to be honest, I jumped at the opportunity to hear his emminence speak. As corny as it sounds, He was a humble speaker, and it was pretty revealing how he's taken in stride the loss his people have endured. I know it's unlikely, but I do hope he may see his country be free, once again.

@cme98

@LibtardsStillCant SilenceMe20 Well the British certainly were top of the list as far as migrating is concerned. If i lived on a dreadful bitterly humid & mud soaked spit of land once a peninsula gone island, where the people on it literally made extinct various species such as Grizzly, Black Bear, & God only knows how many indigenous human tribes are no more & the only natural resources were coal & a dwindling supply of forests held by far worse savages far to the north, i too would want to venture out into the world. But why did they bother coming back? I think the British are more Roman than they dare admit to. Rome blessed them by showing them what civilized man can accomplish. When the Romans abandoned Britannia they left them with 300 years of relatively a peaceful & self sustaining economy dependent largely on the Emperor paying his soldiers every month who kept the barbarians out. When they left, it is written the Vikings & Scots would raid the island of its wealth -not entirely true. The Vikings came down as immigrants to farm a new life & DNA backs this up as there are certain regions on the island which are more Scandinavian in DNA than English. They folded into a emerging British society which simply wrote out of records where the immigrants (or migrants) were coming from. You had no choice, become Hoity-toity as the British & prosper in the new society we build for you. There was no other alternative because they are there to rid the people of the savages within their broken structure which could hardly be called civilization. Those people were incapable as savages to be civilized. That is how the British felt about everybody. A narcissistic feeling of superiority of which many are totally unaware of their personality & would rather call it a sense of pride rather than superiority or narcissism but i beg to differ arguing they are totally quite aware & it is probably something picked up when Britannia was a Roman Province. Because indeed compared to everybody north of them as barbarians & they were superior. Their tiny island nation had Better weather, a civilization where there was enough land for everybody to farm or find work in villages. Wild animals were hunted to extinction within Roman borders by using them as sport in battles to the death in public arenas. But outside the borders they were a real threat & arrows only angered big bears. Those living inside were indeed superior because it was safer and they didn't have to say it because everybody knew. So they just acted like it. Marching into France, North America, Africa, the Middle East, Egypt & Greece, India, China, & Australia. Its a wonder they didn't march into Russia & probably didn't because it was considered a vast land of waste & no resources. Much like Americans claimed it was our manifest destiny to double the size of our country in the 1840s we acted the same but not nearly as brutal as the British. They quite literally conquered the World where all other leaders, nations, & Romans failed. What the British failed to do was keep hold of the power. But they did rule the world & still rule the United States despite losing 2 wars to conquer us. I am sure many British take pride in their foreign conquests & claim they made the world safer doing so. I dont agree. All they did was spread British semen all across the world AND gave the Chinese to use the same poor excuses to invade Tibet saying they are no different than any savage indigenous people the white man has displaced or made extinct over the centuries & China uses that as their justification to invade Tibet & will use it to take back Taiwan. And they would be correct in assuming that they can.

When I graduated from HS in 1974, the concept of paying attention for a 35 minute dissertation on the British invasion of Tibet, would have filled me with dread. Biographer Patrick French described Younghusband's religious belief as one who was, _"brought up an Evangelical Christian, read his way into Tolstoyan simplicity, experienced a revelatory vision in the mountains of Tibet, toyed with telepathy in Kashmir, proposed a new faith based on virile racial theory, then transformed it into what Bertrand Russell called 'a religion of atheism.'"_ Ultimately he became a spiritualist and _"premature hippie"_ who _"had great faith in the power of cosmic rays, and claimed that there are extraterrestrials with translucent flesh on the planet Altair."_

Thanks as usual, Mark. My family and I hiked to Everest base camp in Nepal in 1983. There were large numbers of Tibetan refugees in Nepal at the time, and one of our porter supervisors, Tenpin, was Tibetan. His name was also the first name of the current Dali Lama and is a common name for both boys and girls in the refugee population. It's a small act of rebellion against China. There's still a burning resentment in Tibet against China. According to Tenzin, some of the refugees would take a six months off their work while other Tibetans supported their families to infiltrate back into Tibet to fight in the resistance. Tenzin said there were many acts of sabotage against Chinese installations and even attacks against small Chinese military units. None of this ever got back to Western media as the Chinese had a tight veil of secrecy around what was happening in Tibet. I don't know what the situation really is in Tibet now, but the Tibetans I met were patient yet resolute people, and I can't imagine that most Tibetan people will ever submit peacefully to the Communist Chinese government.

The fact that a European hadn’t ever lived in Tibet until 1900 shows how insanely remote and inaccessible it was before air travel became reliable.

I lost all context on when this was, in relation to other contemporaneous events in world history. If it's not a WWII video (in which I know my bearings very well), I would certainly appreciate the YEAR being given frequently with the mention of the dates. Thank you.

Akiro: Between the time when the oceans drank atlantis, and the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an age undreamed of. And unto thi Mark Felton: Hold my PhD wizard and let me tell you of the days of high adventure! Great narration Mark! A night attack in the time of black powder would have been quite an exhilarating experience I bet.

My great grandfather took part in this expedition as a Conductor (Warrant Officer) in the machine gun brigade. I only know sparse details of his service here other than that he was involved in the slaughter. Around 50 years ago I had the medal he was awarded for the 1904 campaign along with his other medals - he had served in India and Egypt - but these were then returned to his grandson, my uncle. Younghusband was an amazing character. His biography is well worth a read.
