Video Summary: * The speaker questions why the interviewee supports framing politics as a left vs right narrative, arguing that Jewish capital is behind both sides in the US. * The interviewee acknowledges this framing as a problem but still thinks it's relevant. The speaker says this will result in a "dirty J" as punishment. * The speaker argues that looking at world capital structures shows other groups surpass Jews in average wealth, using Cuban immigrants in the US as an example. * The speaker says criticizing Israel is fine but blaming Jews obscures the real antagonism of the political system, where the problem is rich vs poor rather than Jews having money. * They ask who really corrupted the Democratic party and invented political correctness to prevent popular mobilization.

Yeah, but put that way someone could call Zizek "class reductionist"; it´s not that the "real" problem is the opposition rich vs. poor, it´s just that there are power structures -encouraged by capitalism, that go beyond the wealth and interests of particular groups of people. Therefore, blaming one ethnicity is obscuring the forest for one tree. It´s a great answer really.

Within the immense complexities of life there are directly intractable problems: simultaneously, contradictions can be true. A response of a person, of a people, is the result of the surroundings which forms them, which in turn can be influenced by a second group with varying levels of culpability and responsibility. _There is no guarantee that this response, necessitated by power differences, may be able to discriminate and still have an effect._ There is no morality at this point; it is simply unavoidable fact. Zizek is attempting to show that, in the face of such a paradox, a less direct approach which combats the most significant enabling element--in this case, the myriad, myriad problems of hierarchical economics--may, at this point, offer the only possibility of hope, unless we wish to bury our heads and morality in perpetuity. First of all, I think it's silly to deny that many extremely wealthy Jews who support Zionism, have or had major influence on both political parties of the US and historically also held influence in the political parties of the UK. Sheldon Adelson is a perfect example, We can all see why it's so very problematic to make this argument and must be carefully observed and highlighted, it will still be extremely difficult of an argument to make. What Zizek understands is that in a capitalist system, this can happen, capital will always dominate over the political ethics of a society. Hence why he believes to stop said influence, which is natural in a capitalist system, we should look to reform the system itself and not seek to limit the powers of certain individuals or god forbid groups.

this is a guy in an audience to hear a philosopher - presumably someone quite far above average intelligence - yet he is still irrationally tribal and preferential of his in-group. as are the people on the other side. they'll pull us into a huge war over a patch of desert. can we not all just acknowledge that cultures should not mix? it clearly doesn't work. we've gotten away with it for a while in the west because of the excess money still lying around from imperialism but we can see huge cracks forming now as things get worse. how can we in the UK possibly live with several million people who care far more about a country thousands of miles away? who are furious about a war against the people who we are funding!? when our cultures have completely different values and languages? It's so obvious it will end in more and more violence but nobody wants to admit it

I would have liked Zizek to have called out the revolting anti-semitism of the questioner explicitly, instead of offering the truth as a counter argument (in my opinion). "The Jews are BEHIND..". I mean seriously?! He should have been expelled from the room for stating such poison.

The question did have antisemitic connotations, but does that mean we should just dismiss it? Why is fear of antisemitism is so hyperfixated on? Even in the comments here, everyone just screams "antisemitism!" and insults, shouldn't you atleast consider it and if it really is just antisemitism it can be easily disproved because it's just built on blind hate or propaganda.

Zizek did consider it and answer it. The audience member clearly wasn’t interested in actually asking a question or hearing an answer, he just wanted to briefly stand on his soapbox and say “fuck all jews”. That’s why he rightfully ought to be dismissed; he’s not a serious person.

I am deep into zizek but he has done this time one thing he does often when extremely shocked. Instead of remaining speechless, he says whatever that passes through his mind as fast as possible while refusing to acknowledge reality around. The thing you can extract from here is not anything from his response really but the fact that he probably went to bed at night tortured by the realization that he had met a literal nazi.
