It's certainly understated, not at the forefront of the game, but what is there is very evocative, which is the most important thing for understated storytelling to be. The futility of your endless attempts to slay the Heart, the meaningless pain of finding the Book and yet the truth being unable to save you, the cynical laughter of the ghosts... all very well done.

I changed it to "lore", but there's a lot of that too! Hence "worldbuilding": there are a lot of interesting characters and interactions, but they don't build a cohesive world. This trailer alone does a lot of legwork just by showing the outskirts of the Spire!

Okay here is my crackpot theory. That is not the same Ironclad and Silent we know. If you get the true ending in slay the spire Neow says that the tower sleeps and so does she and at the end of this trailer Neow opens her eyes in the exact same way she closes them in that ending so it would seem she just woke from her slumber. So I think a long time has passed after the first game. Neow also says "hello again" which canonically could be talking to the people entering the spire so this is the first time the spire has opened since the first game. The Ironclad and Silent could be the successors of the characters from the first game but the Defect cant be there because there is only one defect robot. Maybe they will show up in the game because robots dont age but they might not still be the same
