To be fair to him, using storm of steel would have discarded the shivs which isn't actually good - they would come back round in his draw pile and cost more... I don't think he knew what he was doing, but it was probably the right decision.

Overall pretty good run but getting rid of eruption when you could play 6-7 shivs in that turn just hurts. Edit: I made this comment only about 15 minutes in and good lord the amount of times he played un-upgraded shivs over using storm to make them better just hurt my soul.

if anyone was wondering. this thread of comments is exactly why I don't like Slay the Spire that much. It is clearly a good game, and I recognize that, but the amount of "oh you should have ____ you dumbass" is too high for my tastes.

I meant that when I play Spire, my thought process is basically this string of comments: I quickly think about what I will do (similar to NL), but then I get stuck in a thought-loop of, 'oh you should have done ___' even when the decision isn't always obvious in the moment. I think I just get frustrated with the RNG elements of the game design. Like, there is usually more than one winning move, but I'll make suboptimal decisions that get compounded by the deck building mechanics. I recognize that this is a 'personal problem' in that I think the game would be infinitely worse if the devs decided to change the game for only me. I personally don't find myself enjoying Spire over other games because I go through this negative thought cycle and don't get the sense of satisfaction from doing well because I think I could be doing much better. My b, I thought the implication was obvious. Rereading my comment, I don't know how I could have thought that. Sorry if any of the other commenters thought I was calling them out.

because then an un-upgraded shiv would cycle back around, taking up draw and likely costing >0 because of snecko eye. He was playing it correctly.

not that this was his line of thought at all, but weakness is so much better than fairy in a bottle for daily score hunting. It can preserve a perfect and most daily runs have very little risk of dying.

There's so much weakness on its own AND the it was never going to be strong enough to Perfect TE, especially with how NL always goes all in on one aspect of his build and ignores everything else. Ffs this egg could have had two riddle with holes in a deck with kunai AND envenom (and snecko skull on top but he couldn't have known that).

It depends if you expect to reshuffle your deck in the fight or not. If you use SoS to get the win before a shuffle it's good, if you ever reshuffle your deck however, you now have unupgraded shivs that potentially cost mana to play because of Sneko clogging up your draw which is probably way worse than missing a bit of damage on one turn

@@sebsg Not when you have Snecko Eye and draw them from your deck. Snecko Eye doesn't affect cards that were generated directly in hand, so shivs may seem immune, but if you actually don't use a shiv for some reason and it comes back around it'll get randomized like anything else.
