Personally, I feel its almost impossible to be an old magic the gathering player, like I also happen to be, remembering the days of theorizing and crafting decks day by day hoping to win in some tournament even before the internet appeared (and people starting to copy paste decks from there without even thinking) and not marvel and be amazed by this beauty of a fun game and what they accomplished here in terms of pure deckbuilding choices. The replayability, the freshness, the variety, the risk reward element and the strategizing in this game, can never be understated enough. Its literally the deckbuilder we never knew we always wanted. The cards don't even have to have huge text like in other games to be complex ! And it's still challenging and super fun!! I mean damn ! Ratings can never do justice to such a masterpiece.

I am with you. This game is a masterpiece! Not too complex, so well balanced, and I keep playing even after 100s of hours lol

A+ for me too. I bought it less than a year ago and already have over 500 hours into it. One of the most addictive and fun games I've ever played, with a superbly designed user interface. And while I'm a longtime strategy gamer it got me to appreciate a new genre (roguelikes) that I had no idea I would like.

More like S++++ ! indeed ! Also around the 500 hour mark, enjoying it all the way getting all achievements. Just amazing! PS: Its 5 euros now, I mean WTF.

Darkest Dungeon I’m an old hand at. But decided to watch your series over doing a new run. Wanted to see a new spin. But Slay the Spire was brand new. Today I beat the third dungeon boss. I went in with only 30 or so HP and figured I was a goner. But I had built up blocks and had a reincarnation potion and ended up winning with 4HP. Your tutorial series made that possible. No way I would have won that without watching those!

Did not enjoy the game when I first got it on PC. Came back and got it on Switch when it was on sale...got incredibly hooked. Ascension 12 on all characters with over 500 hours on Switch. Still love the game its definitely an A+ game. Maybe one day I can get to A20, maybe.

I can’t get past ascension 3 or 4 for some reason and I have like 600 hrs in this nonsense

I think it's pretty easy to understand why, you play for your fun and not to beat the game! Nothing wrong i've friend enjoying playing it over and over in asc0 just for the fun of trying to do cool decks. In higher asc you need to change your point and view and treat it as a puzzle game. The encounters are mostly predictable so set yourself goals to beat the encounters. Learn the strong mechanics and try to go for the one that the game offers you and not the one you want. To summarise, act 1 objective is : get offensive cards and avoid skills. Your hp is your ressource. End fights quick because you can't block enough. Act 2: start to work a block mechanic and pick some multi target attacks, there is more and more multi monster encounters (and elites). Work toward a way to scale your damage higher (poison, strength ect) Act 3: perfect the deck, you need strong block and strong scaling of damage. This act is the less challenging because if you survive act 2, your deck is probably already kind of good Act 4 is for another time, it's incredibly challenging

I had issues getting past early ascensions for a while myself. The most help I've received trying to get better at the game was by watching Baalorlord videos. Helped until now that I'm stuck at ascension 13 on Silent and Watcher and 12 on Ironclad and Defect. Yet even though I lose time and time again I still LOVE StS. A+ game for sure.

I bought this game recently and I actually finished it on my first, blind plauthrough. Kinda lame for a roguelike. Little i knew i will be still on my way to ascension 20 after 150+ hours of gameplay. :)

Haha, I know! The first difficulty isn't too bad... then you start climbing Ascension and you say, hello roguelike! haha

I thought about buying but this game is so fugly... low effort enemies design, no attack animations, even one boss looks like a donut, wtf man... its definitely overpriced.

Judging a game this good based off of graphics is insane. Did you miss out on minecraft too? Don't worry there are a lot of shit games with amazing graphics out there for you to enjoy 😂

@@devonwhite9398I like this game, but hes not basing it off of graphics but moreso artstyle, which i agree with is kind of bad. It can get tough to look at something you think looks bad for long periods of time, so I get it.
