You explained well about having to hear it a few times to be able to hear what is going on. I bought this album ("Reign in Blood" 1986) a couple weeks after it was released, at the time it was basically the fastest heaviest album out there - it is very fast and maybe not the best Slayer 1st listen if you aren't accustomed to this pace. Their next album was 1988 "South of Heaven", it is a little bit slower and much easier to get into on 1st listen. You should check South of Heaven out if you want lol 🤘

Slayers first album is actually my favorite of theirs and it's a lot easier listening for newcomers. I'd recommend the song the antichrist or metal storm/face the slayer

for slayer you should listen to south of heaven, and angel of death to get some good guitar work. Epidemic starts awesome.
