Another perspective, I think it’s more along the lines of being effective against “Vampire” like abilities. How they have all these crazy abilities, and in order to kill one, you have to pierce its heart with a stake. Like in my head, I think about the most deadly overload enemies imo, Fallen Captains. They teleport around constantly and have fast regenerating health, like some nightmarish creature from horror like a vampire. Until this shotgun pierces their heart cold letting me finish it off. When you see a barrier enemy, do you see a vampire? Plus on another note, this gun was made to fight against scorn, of which their respective champions are overload and unstoppable. They probably should have chosen a better word than piecer tho, agreed there.

Other weapon archetypes should have things they're good at and could be modded in other directions as well, if a player so chooses. But keep thinking that the "yAlL sUCk" part isn't the "X shotgun only breaks Y shield, and Z gun is useless without ABCand D artifact modifiers which expire in a week, give us more money" "design philosophy" at Pete's Car Lot. 🤡

Choir of One is the optimal choice for sure. Slayer's is just brainless fun. Something about firing one shot and seeing the ricochet shrapnel explode a wave of low level enemies is just fun to watch. I think as a community we tend to focus on what "the best weapon for the situation" is. Sometimes a weapon can just be fun.

Big thing you missed, the guns shrapnel tracking is INCREDIBLY aggressive and has shockingly high damage. This makes it a almost like a mini tether when firing on a tough target in a big group of enemies, every single one of them isn't just getting peppered by shockingly high damage shots, but they're getting weakened as well, and if an enemy goes down then you get a beefy void overshield to keep thing moving quickly, as well as procking things like devour or banner of war. Choir of ones individual damage output is great, but if you want to see where the fang shines proc devour and mag dump big targets surround by smaller targets, everything just melts and you're sustained

The whole devour/weaken/overshield fantasy with a prismatic subclass where you can get woven mail as well just about constantly is really sick tho imho. Pairing insane DR with constant healing is really cool, and makes it an actual menace for utility purposes in GMs. Only really good this season, but has potential later as well I would think.

Nice! This may overtake Conditional Finality as my main shotty to use with 'No Backup Plans'. We've gotten some total banger Void Exotics lately eh....Slayers Fang, Choir of One, Buried Bloodline.....ad in the GOAT pulse rifle Graviton Lance, and (imo) the GOAT Glaive Vexcaliber and you got one hell of a lineup to choose for Void synergy.

The sandbox doesn’t really work for shotguns in higher end content. Getting that close to a lot of badass bosses is certain death. That’s why I’m not all that jazzed to get the catalysts. Once the shotgun barrier champion artifact perk goes away, it’ll probably live in my vault and be used sporadically for a change of pace on lower tier enemies.

FYI. It can one shot body with the right damage boosts. It will kill 10 resil with No backup plans or radiant. It will kill T9 with surge x3 or T10 with a surge x4 exotic.

IMO any exotic Bungie releases at this stage (especially with the massive drop in player numbers) needs to be something wild and out there just like the Final Shape Exotics were. They can be simple but extremely potent, or just straight up wacky/unusual and still cook. This exotic has a good framework to fit this, but it's not quite there. Imagine if they released it and were like, "Surprise! Heavy Slug Shotgun part 2!" THAT would be interesting. We have a heavy exotic pellet shotgun, but a heavy exotic slug shotgun would have made for good competition and it would have been even more unique than what it is now. Being whelmed in its current state is accurate

Not stated on the weapon but picking up void breaches also triggers nightsworn sight, and while there isnt anything that can generate those in neutral it can be nice for when youre using a void build with it. I think it has a lot more actual utility than choir of one as choir is specced more into its damage output rather than utility due to a lack of anti-champ capabilities and no innate void synergy. IMO repulsor brace is by far the standout pick for slayers fang with its innate weaken and general synergy with actual void builds. If in the future we get some exotic that can generate void breaches without getting kills combining that with cascade point on slayers fang could lead to some pretty potent burst damage that could be really fun against bosses you can get up close to like taniks

Has some fun use in PvP while being outpaced by both legendary alternatives and Chaperone, while in PvE requiring a kill to get the damage rolling (they both also reload all at once, the only two shotguns to do it). First of all, Titan main. Removing No backup plans from the equation (Wich i've always used to matter the shotgun, but this one sinergizes way better) Removing seasonal mods (Wich i never use unless is a anti champion mod) I've gotta be honest here, no, i've taken it to GM, its all matter of playstyle and pathfinding on combat; Allow me to explain slightly further in. One of the void fragments introduced on Void 3.0 allows every class to become invisible on executions, wich, you can at the same time use to gain ammo with barely 4 kills (2 orbs) So, ammo economy is not a issue at all, the damage is absurd even without surges, the constant weakening is not just good on any champion, is good for anything you face strong enough to stand a second slug to the CHEST yes chest. One of its biggest advantages against other shotguns, general, shotguns, is precisely turning from a slut to a ricoche pellet, why? its got increased range, like WAY longer then you would think of, 2, 4, 6 enemies behind, pierced through weakened and killed with a single blast. DPS is nice, tested it on a couple bosses, trust me, if you aint a Choir fan (as myself, idk i just dont like it no matter hip or ADS) trust me the shotgun can pull itself out of tough situations by itself. People keeps telling me duality can pull itself better then fang, i heavily doubt about it even on numbers, this thing can pull some serious saves people is totaly ignoring. But hey, this is just my point of view, builds do change alot, and WAY so much people left the original subclasses to use and stay on prismatic so, i can totaly understand why raw damage is more...niche now instead of digging through classics.

One thing for me with both Choir and Slayer's, my main issue is ammo because even with 1 or 2 special finders equip, those things never have ammo. I start killing multiple mobs with a primary and I rarely ever see a green brick. Then the fact that finder mods give basically nothing on top of that, and that is where the terrible ammo economy issue come in. Hell, finder mods don't even work in PvP so why the hell do they take so long to give a single brick that gives almost nothing in terms of ammo?

It 100% SHOULD have been steong Vs Barrier Champions. It being strong Vs Overlords is absolutely useless when we have Le Monarch, Thunderlord, Divinity, Jolt Nades, Jolting Feedback, Volt Shot, Hunter Shurikens, Duskfields and Chill Clip. Barriers are probably the HARDEST Champions to counter with Verbs and this being a Barrier Weapon would be better as it would also bypass Cabal Shields and Hydra Shields

I have two words "Graviton Lance" No chance that the shotgun gets priority over the G-Lance on any void build. Good toy, they found a way to put a piece of the Warframe Octavia's quest into the exotic mission, will eat dust once the artifact changes,s and you no longer need shotguns to deal with barrier champs, and all the seasonal perks buffing void be gone.

I literally just threw on a slapdash void build with Omnioculus with Slayer’s Fang and zero artifact influence, and this thing just rolls over stuff like Onslaught and other Add intensive content. Also melts the bejeezus out of overloads if you can get that weaken to proc on it. All in all, much better than Choir of One. 4 cheese breadsticks from Pizza Hut outta 5
