Newb here. Can I keep my jighead and DOA CAL shad installed on my rod, or does it need to be restored in a bag after each fishing session?

You can keep a CAL shad out of its bag when it's being stored... it will not dry out like Gulps do.

Slayer Inc Rules🤟🏻 only paddle tails (SST&SSTXL) I use in Texas besides Down South Lures which I consider a hybrid between a twitch bait a paddle tail. Great customer service also. I use a small copper tube to ream a channel and insert a glass rattle in the belly of the SST’s, gets noticed for sure. I’d like to add that the DOA 4 inch paddle tails were a let down as I was anxious to try but the tail design is horrible.

Rootbeer chart, straight chart, any color thats darker and will hold it's own against the murky water, i.e. the color doesn't disappear when its in the water.

I wouldn't get too tied up on being worried about a bunch of different color baits. Buy a light color and a dark color. Fish darker color in dirtier water, the light color in cleaner water. Hard to beat root beer with a chartreuse tail and white or pearl.
