Guys it’s not always about being able to play the songs. There are other things that go into picking a new band mate, intangible things like chemistry, personality, and that sort of stuff. Look at Dream Theater: all the guys they auditioned could play the stuff, but sometimes one guy just jives better for some reason you can’t mathematically can’t explain. Bostaph was a great choice to replace Lombardo. Sure he probably can’t play any tech-deth, but he’s a beast of a thrash drummer (check his stuff with Testament and Exodus), and his work on Divine Intervention is phenomenal. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

All the amps is a bit of overkill really. And I can appreciate his intensity on the drums but Lombardo brought this along with a level of finesse that just isn't here in this video.

I totally agree. Out of all the drummers that Slayer's had, Dave was always the finesse guy. Taking nothing away from Bostaph, Dette, or even this guy. Dave was never more physical than required. Everyone else looks like there beating the shit out of their kits. Dave L for the win.

I'm a huge Kevin Talley fan, but he was just simply too fucking fast for them. If you don't hear how far up beat he was about midway through, stick them headphones closer to your earhole.

You're smoking crack and living in fantasy land. A few facts... (not fucking feelings)... #1, Kevin Talley would smoke the shit out of Lombardo in technicality, tightness and accuracy. Listen to Dying Fetus - Killing On Adrenaline OR Destroy The Opposition albums and watch/hear your boy Lombo get smoked like a Cohiba... He could grind him out in one track. #2, Kevin has to dial it DOWN for thrash and other lesser sub genre than Technical Death Metal / Grindcore. Not to say you don't need talent for Thrash and whatnot.. but the riffs, drumming, etc. is much more primitive and simplistic in comparison to Talley's capability. #3, Dave Lombardo is a fucking fantastic drummer, so this isn't a butthurt comment. I can respect having a love for a favorite drummer...but it's getting old hearing people run around throwing falsities backed by passion for their favorite drummer while ignoring facts, physical capability and science itself...

Physical/Visual proof. I don't have readings for their fucking biological energy outputs. Just listen to DL and KT side by side in a few comparison vid. Not for when he played with Suffocation or whoever else... I'm talking Misery Index or Dying Fetus. Dave can't perform the complex, grinding-death style that Kevin pulled off. AGAIN!!! Lombo is a fantastic drummer and is one of the top 3, if not the best in thrash...and is sick as fuck in general... Very fast and accurate himself... But all he could do against Talley is bring a knife to KT's gunfight. Trey Williams (current DF drummer) could possibly destroy them both. It's in the physical videos, not just making statements out of thin air..

The last one was two months ago when I attended a Suicidal Tendencies show where Dave came out with a huge job. I listen every day to metal, rock, punk, hardcore and everything you can think of more than 37 years ago and yes, I played the drums more than 20 years ago. Dave is one of my favorite drummers of all time, not Paul Bostaph. Now, I would like to ask you: why do you insult me? What ??? It's a joke dude ^^ ? Dave Lombardo alias ' Thunderkick ' is a legend and the killer drummer that Slayer can never find. I have see this guy in live and mamamia !! It's the WAR ON STAGE . In more to be technically , intense and power , he is the beast who play ultra fast with a feeling of power all in groove that no drummer will add in the band. Do you give me an album of beast quality without Lombardo? Personally apart from ' Divine intervention ' with Paul B. (very violent and darkness style on this record, i love this album). No record has the violence and quality of composition that with Dave as drummer. He is the absolute master, and Jeff / Kerry were really inspired by the structure, the riffs and the composition of songs with him. And in live , he is a machine of war !! It's my legend, inspiration. Slayer was = King / Hanneman / Lombardo and Tom Araya, awesome line up for killer's albums, SLAYER of quality, point .
