I saw them at The Warfield SF back in 2003. At 4:27 Dave stood up with this look on his face like he was possessed and then he smiled right before going back to banging his drums. The crowd went crazy. One of the most memorable concert experiences of my life.

@m1sterlurk
@m1sterlurk 6 ай бұрын
Slayer were famously confused when people began saying they thought this song was meant to glorify Mengele. If you read the lyrics, they clearly describe a monster of a human being They not praise him beyond saying the things he thought about himself as he carried out his atrocities, and in fact describe his atrocities in about as graphic detail as one can within the confines of a song this fast. They didn't feel like they needed to end the song with "oh by the way he was a very bad man" because they thought the lyrics stated that about as clearly as one possibly could.

When I was younger I didn't understand Slayer were too fast for me, but now that I am older I understand that they were making an advance of the future generation of these days. Life is going too fast nowadays that this kind of music is just a need.

There are obviously a lot of awesome things to love about slayers music. What gets me, more with them compared to other bands is their phenomenal instrumental skills and influences. From guitars to bass and drum, what slayer does with their instruments is crazy awesome.

And then they play Trrrrr TrrrrrTrrrrrr Trrrrrrr TrrrrrrTrrrrrr Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.... -Yeah, best ever! But my favourite is Dave playing PadaPada PadaPada Prrrrrrrrrrrrr PadaPada Prrrrrrrrrrrrr -Meanwhile Tom sings AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AAAAANNNNNNGGGGEEEELLL OOOOFFFF DDDDDDEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAATTTTTTHHHHHHHH

Saw them live some years ago, back in 2015. The best live performance I've ever seen. That's saying something, as I saw Metallica live three times from '92 to '96. Also saw Pantera in their prime and live three times from the same era. Prior to finally seeing Slayer, my favorite live shows were Machinehead and Fear Factory some time in the the early 2000s and Amon Amarth in 2014 or 2015. When Slayer took the stage in 2015 they utterly destroyed the place for two hours straight, took their bows, and left. Coils of the Serpent unwind....
