Always watch at 1.5 or even 1.75. Absolutely LOVE Kurt and Trent - they're by far my fave whiskey channel - but the guys talk too slow and include a lot of fun but irrelevant stuff. So I get to listen to their superb bourbon intelligence in a reasonable amount of time. 😂

I had been searching all over for a bottle. I ended up finding a bottle while on vacation (at a grocery store!) and had to rearrange luggage to get it home under the weight limit. Thank you to taking your time with this one. I am a double oak "junkie" and have or have tried many of the ones you had in this blind, especially the Sagamore Rye! I paid about $130 for the Peerless DO Rye and love it but still would choose the Sagamore DO Rye for two reasons: 1) I love it, and 2) it is half the price of the Peerless! FYI - The Peerless DO Bourbon is still selling for about $83 in San Antonio, TX when available.

i did a double oaked blind with peerless batch 10, starlight, nulu store pick and woodford. the peerless was a clear winner for me with woodford 2nd pl followed by nulu. the starlight just ran harsh against the rest. i have the peerless batch 13 now and will be the test again to see if the order changes.

Great video! I can see the Toasted and Rye maybe overtaking the Peerless, but please do a short blind of Peerless vs 2XO before using the results... just to be sure that perhaps the blind didn't change the palette somehow - maybe the rye made the 2XO taste better right after, or the Wheel Horse made the Peerless taste worse.

Super happy with this video. I love double oaked products, but I know of so few of them. Hoping to hunt down some more :) The Peerless Double Oaked is, in my opinion, very good, but $20 too expensive. It has some great tasting notes, but it just doesn't have the push I want out of a $100+ bottle. Peerless do have a double oaked rye that is fantastic. Highly recommend if you can find (and afford) it.

I definitely agree the Peerless DO is overhyped. Got my bottle and given it a bunch of chances, but beyond a kind of muted interesting dark chocolate and way over oakedness I don't get much. That Sagamore DO though....! So good. Gotta try the 2XO still.... Great video guys. Trenton, I challenge you to just use freaking culinary terms to describe smells and tastes. I'm still waiting for you to say something tastes like outer space at some point lol.

Try a Crittenden Double Oak. They are based out of Kiln, Mississippi. Yes, Mississippi out of all places. Excellent Double Oak. 120 proof 72% corn-17% Rye- 11% Barley. My Favorite was the Cliff pick

Take this conservatively a Rye was out of place it was obviously going to come in last or first depending on preference for rye. Outliers always stand out. It’s like putting a Gabernet in a Pinot Noir blind.

I'm surprised this lineup didn't include any of the very common double oaked bottles - Where was the OF 1910, EC Toasted, or Woodford DO? While I don't think they are the best, they are very well known and they give a mental benchmark for people watching the video. I hope the next lineup isn't loaded up with all three of those bottles.

There is a difference between a CHARRED double oak (2 different barrels) and a TOASTED oak barrels, Where a char is a 40 to 60 second burn of the interior of a barrel, a toast is, well, a toast. The barrels are subjected to less extreme temperatures for longer durations than a barrel char.

I've had Sagamore Double Oaked Rye, and I was not impressed... at all. There was no complexity to speak of, and it didn't taste anything like a rye. It tasted like a cheap, sweet bourbon. I don't get it lol.

Well that really stinks. I've been trying to get Peerless Double Oak for almost 6 months. On memorial day Barrel Tap ran a sale, I ordered not 1 but 2 bottles. I also ordered 2 bottles of Westward Single Barrel Cask strength. I tried one from R/bourbon and fell in love with the stone fruits, brown sugar and long finish on this one. I hope that's not 400🦌down the drain. 🤞

Im shocked by this. I dont have the 2xo, but i have everything else. For me, off memory since ive never blinded these particular ones except the peerless (i paid $90, not $100-120) but with other DOs, sag DO would be last. Its just way too bright and weird for me (same w their sherry, i get the same bright weird note in both). Next would be wheel horse, not because its bad, i like it, its just a little flat/not as complex as the others. Then peerless and fiddler could go either way depending how the peerless drank that day. The 1st 2-3 pours i had were super oaky and amazing, the last time i had it, in a blind, it wasnt as oaky and full bodied as the first couple-few pours. The fiddler toasted bourbon i like a lot, but if the peerless drank like the 1st few pours that would be 1st, if it drank like the last time i had it, fiddler toasted bourbon would be 1st. I also have the fiddler toasted rye, and thats even better than the bourbon.

The length isn't an issue because these are always lunch break videos for me 😉 I wish I could say I'm disappointed by my local distillery's product going out early, but ASW's toasted is not on my list of favorites either. Sagamore DO is a staple for me, I love their stuff and the DO in particular. If you ever run across a store pick from them and you like ryes, buy it.

I was at a bottle share a little while ago and had Peerless DO for the first time. Back then I said it wasn't as good as the Woodford DO, especially at nearly double the price. So this doesn't surprise me much. I am pleasantly surprised at the Sagamore taking first!

I did a tasting at Peerless distillery earlier this week and really liked the double oaked. I ended buying a single barrel bottle from them that was just awesome. All their stuff is higher proof and very small production. I highly recommend giving them a try.

Sagamore Double Oaked is insanely good. Haven’t gotten to have a lot of the peerless due to the cost but the few times I’ve had it it is was incredibly good.
