Love to see an OBS ford 7.3 still out competing. It didn't make the power that the newer powerstrokes did but at least it's reliable enough at 20 years old to compete in this competition. I have a dually the same year model with 320k miles on it and it's my daily driver. The 7.3 is a great engine and I'd love to see international make it again

Yes, those heavily modified trucks featuring who knows how many original parts sure didn't compete for reasons that weren't completely clear. How silly is it to call out a company's vehicle when you don't even know if whatever isn't working is factory or not?
@hershy31410 жыл бұрын

@dtroy1510 жыл бұрын
tcv4 The reliability and robustness of the aftermarket parts available for each respective brand is as critical as the same properties of the original parts themselves. Mopar parts have a reputation for quality, and that showed here. Who leaves their trucks stock anyways? I take it you're a bowtie guy.

if you can get an extra gallon in it at the first fill up that your not going to be putting in it at the second fill up then yes... you would be cheating the calculator and on paper you would get better fuel mileage.

To me the sled-pull doesn't really make much sense as a challenge.. I mean, it's super fun to watch but it's not a fair competition. It isn't testing the truck itself, it's testing the tires. When they stop it's not because the truck can't pull any longer it's just because it's got no more grip so it just spins the tires. I'm not trying to diss sled-pulls here, I'm just saying what I think. If someone used correct arguments to prove me wrong I'd actually apreciate it.
@sik59rt10 жыл бұрын
Well then that means low pro tires are the best at sled pulls since that white ram out pulled them all
@DrDrdreydrey10 жыл бұрын
Traction is with out a doubt extremely important but that is just as true for the drag events. The trucks that did well on the tractor pull were ones that avoided too much bounce and that has to do with suspension setup rather than pure tire traction. Also as with most of the challenges huge stress on all engine and driveline components. And diesel power challenge has a one set of tires rule meaning tire selection is a big part of the strategy anyway.
@Clutch_Kick18710 жыл бұрын
Come on dude the white dodge with street tires won, which are not the best at pulling in dirt, and just so happened he had the most torque of any of the trucks...don't know what you were watching...
@tevsil110 жыл бұрын
These guys are not only right but your telling me if I put big grippy tires on my 1987 ram 50 im gunna kick the shit out of everyone out there lol
@georgeharding418010 жыл бұрын
Torque was what won the White ram the sled-pull, can't argue with 2000 ft-lbs. The other trucks had between 1600-1800. 200-400 torque can definitely make a difference more than tires.

Pulling a sled with an automatic transmission makes no sense what so ever.... Fail.
@DorDor40010 жыл бұрын
Hardly a fail considering the autos it didnt break, and pulled further than the manual. Manual shifting a truck tranny, while dragging a sled, good luck. During your slow shifts in a long throw transmission your going to lose boost and drop power. Autos shift faster, smoother and you can adjust line pressures to make it shift even more efficient, faster, and harder and maintain boost better. Your comment = Fail.
@grizzlycanman426110 жыл бұрын
Dora D-Explora that's also why they said he had to pick a gear and stick with it the whole time
@DorDor40010 жыл бұрын
Brett Koberlein not sure how that justifies his comment at all. Auto is Still is more efficient, and would keep the truck in optimum torque range. Where being stuck one gear would max out torque and rpm wise.
@grizzlycanman426110 жыл бұрын
Dora D-Explora every time he let off it stabilized the truck a little bit rpm went down and got back into it. So he was still in that gears optimum power range for that great
