Such intoxicating music, a real conduit to take you to another mental place. It reminds me of a gig I went to a few years ago, a solo show by Colin Stetson (an experimental sax player). I could tell that he goes into a kind of 'flow' state while performing, and in between one particularly long, difficult song and another I was close enough to the stage to hear him softly say "I wish you could all feel what I feel". To me, that said it all - he performs almost more for himself than for the crowd, and that is exactly why it's excellent. The best musical acts do this, and Sleep is no different. You can tell they're just IN IT, in their own sonic behemoth creation.

This performance rocked so f_ _ king hard. They were thunder gods. Truly my favorite live recording to listen to all through traffic

That 15 min version of sonic titan blew my fucking mind so cosmic and heavy, defiantly the best performance of it

I must've listened to this at least 100 times. Certainly some of the best guitar work I've ever heard.

I got a letter from a scientist and I guess they did some tests which proved that this was one of the top five videos on youtube! Weird.

yeah! thanks for this. I'm joining the party after some time off this type of music. Sleep, Electric Wizard, Sunn O))), even the more mainstream stylings of Monster Magnet. The grind of it all eventually gets you somewhere. I don't know exactly where, but I like it.

I gravitate to these bands cuz for some reason I'd rather not listen to all the throaty vocalists. But throaty guitars and Bass, yes.

For me, alot of the appeal of this band is actually seeing them play. I love the way he plays guitar - strumming it with so much...purpose? Just makes it all sound heavier, somehow.

The bass tone is fucking tremendous, from a video it sounds like one of the best I've ever heard so I can only imagine how hard it hits live. I need to see these boys live to feel the sonic assault in person.

You can definitely hear how Electric Wizard got their sound from this band. It's like an overweight black bear who's eaten a bad mushroom; slow, fat, meaty, uberfuzzy, and seeing purple dragons and blue dwarves.

This video really represents one of the aspects of heavy metal that i appreciate. Here we have a band thats been around the block a while, yet, now that they are approaching middle age there is no problem going on stage without a shirt, belly hanging out and ass crack in the back for added viewing pleasure. See, metal isn't the music of the 'pretty' people (late 80s excepted). These guys... not so pretty. Lemmy kilmister, not so good looking, same for half of the bands that wear the morgue paint. You think Jay-z or Justin Timberlake would do a show looking like this? Hell no. So, what does this all mean? Well, metal accepts you the way you are. No pretension. No gettting by on looks and no talent.

jay z isnt a pretty boy either lol

Thanks Crypticdon for posting this. I'm working on my third go-around with this video! 23:05...one of the best, if not the best, Sleep song. IMO.
